Default Dance Dance Revolution

Luna. Here is a webpage that has a video of someone dancing to some music.
It seems similar to a karaoke machine. It shows v ^ on the screen and
you use your feet as you watch the scrolling symbols. I have never heard of
this before. As I was trying to find some info on the net, my 8 year old
daughter immediately came to the computer to see what was going on. She's
got to have one now. I can see how it would be fun. The link to the demo is
about 1/3 way down the page. The first half of the video shows set-up
procedures of the components. The last 1/2 shows a person doing it. I know
you asked about the TV version, but this is interesting to see how it is
done.

Have you all seen those Dance Dance Revolution machines that are in

arcades
or bowling alleys, etc? My husband and I love to play them. We have a

few
times, even though we're terrible at it, it's a lot of fun. Well, I

found a
home version of it, and now have a dance pad that plugs into my tv (they
also make them for Playstation or Xbox, and those versions are much

better).
Anyway, I love it!
I got the cheapo knockoff with really lousy graphics and the sound

quality
is also bad - but it's hilarious. It's a fantastic workout, but

something I
really want to do. The other morning, I was all ready for work and had

10
minutes to spare, so I decided to plug it in and play some more, because
it's like a game. I never would have used an extra 10 minutes on my
elliptical machine, etc. just for fun. The first several nights I had

it,
as soon as I came home from worked I plugged it in and eagerly tapped my
feet on the arrows to try and beat my last score. I'll use it for 10 to

30
minutes at a time, and my legs feel like jelly. I've also already

noticed
that my pants are getting larger! I've only had this for 2 weeks, but

my
thighs are absolutely shrinking.

So I've been wanting to post about it as a fun way to mix gaming with
exercise, in a way that really doesn't seem like exercise while you're

doing
it.

Ok, that sounds like so much fun! Details please! What is the name of
this cheap knockoff you got, how cheap is it, where'd you get it? You say
you just plug it into your tv . . . so you don't need anything else? I
don't have a Playstation or anything like that.

Thanks, but I'm on dial-up, so I won't be viewing any videos online
anytime
soon. Also, I have actually seen people do this before, at an arcade,
and
I knew there were home versions for Playstation but I didn't know you
could
get a home version without a gaming console.

Ours just plugs into a SCART socket on the TV, and cost about £10 from
Toys-R-Us.

I must get round to finding whose bed it's stashed under...

Nicky.

will it also teach you to dance?

I don't think there's a game, or a teacher for that matter, who could
teach my uncoordinated self to dance, but this sounds like fun anyway.

Off to EBay to price check this thing for my PS2!

I think you can play any game you want with the pad controller, right? (on
PS2) but which games are best for working up a sweat? Do they make
work-out games? I looked on Walmart.com and found a few of the Dance Dance
Revolution kind of games, but I'm wondering if there are different kinds...
the DDR games seem to be suited more toward teens. This sounds fun, but I
don't want to dance to Brittany Spears or someone equally annoying. )

Most of the DDR games I've seen have songs that nobody has heard.

Although, my knock-off game with very poor sound quality (where many songs
sound very similar because of the awful sound) has many songs I've heard
of... like Michael Jackson's "Beat It" My Heart Will Go On (annoying
Titanic song), I need a HERO, Follow the Sun, Over the Rainbow, etc.

Awesome ) Now I want one! I can't stand most of the new music and was
afraid it would be full of new stuff for teenagers.
