Low Blood Pressure and Low-Carb?
I'm not on any medication or anything right now (this always comes
up), but I have low blood pressure (usually in the 85/45 to 95/55 range). I am wondering, has anyone with low blood pressure tried the Atkins and/or any other low-carb diet? Would it be considered safe? thanks, -ivyb |

It is now running 105/70, but that could be a fact of changing from synthryoid to armourthyroid medication. The one suggestion I would make is, I have trouble occasionally with dizzy spells. I use morton's light salt.. half salt and half potassium. Some people are on medication and should not use potassium, make sure it is safe for you. My doctor recommended this prior to low carbing, so he had no problem with it after I started also. essense |

Would it be considered safe? thanks, -ivyb My blood pressure today at the doctor's office was 92 over 60. It usually is 90 over 56. That's pretty much my range--and, no, I'm not taking blood pressure medication. It's called being an athlete. The doctors are happy about my blood pressure readings, and it has never caused a problem. Oh yeah, once it did--during my knee operation, my pulse went down to 40 and that amazed them. Then, the anesthetist saw on my chart that I was a soccer player and HIS blood pressure stabilized. Pat in TX Supposedly Miguel Indurain had a resting pulse rate in the mid to low 30s. Boris Becker's pulse rate was so low that doctors were afraid to operate on him. |
