University and lab studies around the world suggest that green tea enhances your metabolism without elevating your heart rate hence it assists in weight loss. Here is one quote: "Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se," Got it from this article detailed article: http://my.webmd.com/content/article/...condition=Home _&_Top_Stories Based on an article she read in some magazine, my wife makes a gallon of green tea with a tablespoon of lemon juice and a little splenda. She drinks it iced three times a day. She also takes a calcium supplement as recommened by the magazine article. It appears to be working for her. She's been losing and average of 2 lbs. a week. |

Green tea is a super-food! It's just amazing how healthy this stuff
is for you. Unfortunately, I can't drink it (either brewed, or Nestle Ice Tea) :-( Can't stand the taste. It's just not my... cup of tea :-) I do take the supplement though. So they recommend avoiding it. I havn't had any problems intaking 5 cups of green tea daily (2 with my breakfast). I'd avoid coffee. J |

Caffeine has been very helpful in my weight loss. I'll usually go to Starbucks and get a four-shot venti iced breve latte after lunch. The caffeine will pretty much keep me satiated for the rest of the day. Come time for dinner, I'm not REAL hungry, so I'll eat a small portion and be fine. Coffee with heavy cream (my usual morning drink) can reduce appetite. Sometimes this is a blessing and sometimes it's not. When it's a blessing, it's because I often wake up with screaming blood sugar "hangover" headaches, particularly if I do not keep my carbs well controlled. The cup staves that off long enough for me to cook something or go somewhere to eat. However, one should *always* eat breakfast, and sometimes coffee keeps me from having the motivation to make breakfast for myself. [Although often all I have for breakfast is the leftover meat in the fridge...] I find I lose weight faster sticking to about 30g/carbs, but eating all the meals I am supposed to eat. When I skip meals, I stop losing weight. |

The history of dieting is replete with detrutus of "diet aids" that
give great hopes, sell books, make one lose 3-4 lbs and stop working. Grapefruits, drinking water, etc etc, and your coffee, may belong to this category. Course. They might all have diuretic properties. It may work for the temporary diuretic effect but doesn't help fat loss. |
