I'm much thinner on Usenet, myself.

Me, too: I'm 6'2", well built, handsome, smart, funny, rich, and a good
lover!

I'm getting really tired of people saying that the way they behave here
isn't reflective of the person they are in "real life."

Guess what, your interactions here are as real as anywhere else. There are
real people reading the posts we make. Real feelings get hurt. Even real
legal consequences can ensue.

I mean, would you say, "well, I'm only a bitch over the phone"? No,
because we know that phone conversations are real.

You may act differently in this forum than you do in others, but this is
just as real a reflection of who you are as that is. In fact it may be
more accurate, because this is a situation in which people think they can
act without thinking of consequences.

Basically, with me, what you see is what you get. But that only goes as
far as the actual personality. I know, right about now, you're confirming
any stray thoughts about my fitness to live on my own.

BUT! On Usenet, I'm able to sustain what I feel is my true personality for
much longer than I can in "real life." I'm a raging introvert, and
personal interaction saps just about any strength I've got.

On Usenet, I'm not under that same pressure, so I don't get tired and
lackluster as I would if I were sitting across the table from someone.

A Usenet friend who I met in person observed that I was much more quiet and
less perky in person than I am in newsgroups and on the IRC. Still the
same person, but with less energy.

I have to agree with this. But - it is sometimes hard to tell what
some people are really like without seeing their faces and
expressions as they talk. I have a friend who is warm, loving
person - but in her emails, she comes across really stiff and cold!
She's not used to typing or expressing herself that way, I guess.

I smile a lot when I'm with people, hence the smilies, winkies, and Gs.

You too ? Cool isn't it. Anyone taking anything off the net without a
grain of salt is asking to get their feelings hurt. Love and know thyself,
and don't take life (or usenet) so seriously.

Do we get to pick 3 of the above?
