Sunshyne is an interesting name - sunshine with a y! Are you of Welsh origin
or
some other background where people use y in place of i?

I received a registration form yesterday for a class I'm teaching soon.
That person also uses Sunshyne...with a "y"...as her nick! And, that's
about as interesting as my trivia will get today!!! Back to work, even
tho' it's a state holiday! grumble

I chose a nym because my name is very common on usenet, especially
here. Since voice and visual cues are hard to come by in a written
medium, I thought it would be easier to remember me that way.
Besides, my real name is out there, if you really want to find it.

Yes revek is a very memorable nym. Only that sometimes I got
confused about your gender, but then it isn't the most important
thing about a person.

That's a compliment. I try to stay gender neutral when I write. It
keeps down the stupid gender insults.

For me, revek is reverk, that's all I need to know.

That's good to know.

I still occasionally make and eat my SO's favorite soup that has beans in
it, I have calculated that it has 10 net grams of carb per cup. This is a
wonderful recipe given to me by an online friend.

Sausage Soup Ole'

1 lb. smoked sausage(cut in 1 in. slices, or diced, as you prefer) 12 g
carb
1 can(14-15 oz.)stewed tomatoes 27-4=23
1 can(14-15 oz.) sliced or diced tomatoes in juice 14
1 can(15-16 oz.)pinto beans, undrained 65-20=45
1 can(14 oz.) chicken broth
1/2 of a medium head of cabbage, chopped fairly large 25-10=15
1 Tbs. chili powder 4-3=1
(2 tsp. sugar or substitute) 8 if used
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced 0
1 medium size onion,chopped 9-2=7
2 cloves garlic, minced 1

TOTAL 168-39=129, makes approx 3 quarts, 6 2-cup servings. Per serving
426 cals, 29 g fat, 21 net carbs, 17 g protein.

Put all ingredients in soup pot. This will look to thick to be soup, but
will
become less thick as cabbage cooks down. Lower heat and simmer from 30 to 60
minutes, depending on how soft you prefer your cabbage.

|| What's weird is that beans don't give me the "sugar high" that brown
|| rice, for instance, does give me. I've been eating some beans,
|| though as I get closer to maintenance, I plan to eat more. And,
|| they're good filler to stretch meat.
|
| I don't eat beans very often, but I do toss a couple of cans of black
| beans in my chili when I make it once a month or so. They make up a
| fairly small percentage of the total ingredients and they don't seem
| to hold me back, weight loss wise, or noticeably affect my blood
| sugar. But that's me.

It's easier to type this:

then to try to explain! In life's big picture, what I teach is totally
and completely frivolous! Fun, tho'.

Apparently another part of "real life" on Usenet is the inability to stay on

Carol, I would like to have the recipe that uses cinnamon. Maybe you
could post it. TIA

Type 2, no meds for now.

I love black beans, navy beans, pinto beans, split peas, and lentils.

The
only one I love enough to add to my WOE is an occasional small bowl of
lentil soup (I have a recipe that uses cinnamon - delicious!).
