Well, maybe what I've got isn't just allergies. I still feel

totally
miserable. My head is stuffed, and nothing seems to be kicking

it.
I've tried zyrtec, clariton, afrin, psuedophed, etc ... (no, not

all
at one time) but nothing seems to give me any relief.

The one thing that gets me... when most people get sick, they

lose
their appetite and come in claiming to have lost 5lbs or

something.
Me, I lose my appetite, but if I don't eat, I suddenly get the

shaky
feeling and will pass out. So, I go to the point where I start

to
feel shakey, then I'll eat something whether I feel like it or

not.

The other thing is, water is repulsive to me when I feel like

this.

I'm whining... I know. Go on about your business of dieting and
exercise now.

I too am suffering what I believe is a combination of allergies (beginning
the change of season here) and a massive cold. If water is repulsive try
tea - it's hot and soothing ... or Fruit2O, which tasting 'juicy' (albeit a
little fake juice-y), might be soothing. I believe it's sweetened with
Splenda. Oh, and use those lotion-packed tissues... they really are easier
on the nose (just don't try to clean your glasses with them -lol).

DeCaf works just fine... in fact, I generally only stock decaf tea, since
normally, for me it's a 'nighttime' drink. /shrug ... they make decaf green
varieties too. Feel better.

I read something lately that said that there is no real clinical evidence
that shows that the need for fluid is increased when ill. In fact, the
article went on to say that because the brain puts out extra anti-diuretic
hormone, you might actually need less fluid. The article questioned the
wisdom of telling people to drink more. Of course, I cannot remember where
I read the article so don't ask me to cite references.

I am the same way with food when I am sick unless I have fever. I will tell
you that I am never tempted to eat for any other reason than avoiding low
blood sugar. Candy, etc. does not appeal to me.

I hope you feel better. Sounds rough.

I sympathize!

I went to the doctor today and was diagnosed with a pretty bad sinus
infection. I was given a prescription for Allegra and a Zpac. I also had a
cortisone injection. My head hurts, drainage, coughing, ears itch, the
whole 9 yards. Seasonal bad allergies almost always cause sinusitis for me.
It sucks! I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I quit smoking 4
mos 2 weeks ago and my respitory system isn't as strong as could be if I had
never poluted my system with those nasty cigs.

I'm not feeling as bad as I did in January when I had this last... I am
still going to gym tonight, but doing less cardio so I don't get too winded
in my condition.

I hope we both start feeling better soon! Maybe you should go to the doctor
to see if it is an infection that needs antibiotics to help. Also,
Cortisone shots always help me feel better.

The tea will also dehydrate you if you drink too much, which isn't good when
you are suffering from allergies/sinusitis!

I've been drinking green tea. Its got just enough flavor to make it
go down easier. Although I don't want to drink too much as I don't
want to be wired from drinking a gallon of tea. :-)

We've got the lotion packed tissues at home, and right about now I'm
missing them. I meant to grab a box to bring to my desk at work, but
my brain isn't functioning well enough to have remembered that.

Right now it would be nice to just lay down and sleep... But I'm too
far behind on work for that. So instead, I'm very whiny.

Hope you feel better soon. If the water is repulsive, you may not need to
drink it. When I get really water retentive, I can't even go near a glass
of water. If I need to drink something I'll either put a little lemon juice
and splenda in my water or even dilute some sugar free cranberry juice in
it.
