I had a pelvic pouch done almost 20 years ago and have had emergency
surgery a couple of times since but not in last 10 years...I've been
LCing seriously since mid-September. I also work out: cardio every
day and weights 3 times per week. I don't have a scale but have lost
a lot of weight and inches. If I ingest enough water everything is
great..when I don't, I have problems. I try to cook vegetables
instead of salads which seems to work best for me. Giving up bread,
pasta (white-the family enjoys whole wheat or multi-grain spaghetti
once a week), rice, potatoes, sugar-laden treats, etc., has been
fantastic for me!

Hello Murray

So nice to meet you. 14 years ago I lost my bowel due to Ulcerative
Collitis..and I have had many problems. I have an internal S pouch
(made from the small bowel), I had an illiostomy only for 1 year. I
have to use a Medena tube to empty.

Well anyways, I am not allowed anything with high fibre count (like
brown bread, veggie's fruit) So really this is the only diet for me,
as low fat is totally out of the question. But I am also not allowed
to become constipated. Have you had any problems with constipation on
this diet, as I know others have , but alas I am not normal LOL.
I do eat a bit of celery, radishes, cucumber, and green and yellow
beans..but that is the extent that I can have (really should not have
that) but I found that I can have it in very little moderation.

I have tried this diet once before ..last year..but I bled in my urine
and it scared me. Trying it one more time as I do have alot of weight
to loose. I am on day 5 of the INDUCTION. And I feel wonderful,
headache has subsided and I am not craving what so ever. Although may
be easier for me, as I could never have much bread and fibre anyways.
Have not had lettuce or cabbage in over 14 yrs ..IMAGINE.

Thank you so much for posting, looking forward to hearing more from
you

I eat the fibre so I don't have trouble with constipation...any
problems I have relate to the condition or surgery and not to the
diet...I was quite overweight and had high blood pressure which was
why I decided to change my WOE and WOL. I also have a "fat" 14 year
old son (I'm 55) and so I'm trying to be a better model for him.

As I said in my previous post, I've lost a lot of weight and inches,
have no cravings like before, and enjoy this WOL.

It's been a long time since I've seen the surgeon but unfortunately
have to go back soon for problems unrelated to the eating plan I
follow.
