u... Has anyone seen this new software, it's meant to be pretty good http://www.defteffects.com Looks nice, but kind of funky. For instance: 1) One-Rep Maximum tool did not seem to work. Entered a weight, but got no feedback from it. Also, I would expect that this sort of tool would calculate one-rep max based on what I can lift (weight x reps), but this didn't seem possible. The kilograms - lbs calculator on that window also had no effect. Ahhh...now I see what the problem is. The program REQUIRES you to hit the Enter key after you fill in each field. It does not respect the Tab key, or mouse clicks to move to a different field. This is very non-standard behavior, and irritating to anyone used to Windows programming conventions. 2) Body Mass Calculator Would not work. Entered gender and age, but was not able to enter sum of skinfold measurements or Body Weight. The program would not permit the cursor to "focus" in those fields, so the only thin left is to click the Close button (same problem as above - only the "Enter" key permits movement from field to field). Also, the name is confusing. Body Mass usually refers to Body Mass Index, but this window is attempting to calculate Body Fat Percentage, which is altogether different. 3) No Context-Sensitive Help on the main window No Help button, and hitting F1 just brings up a generic help window (i.e., nothing about the window that is currently showing). 4) No way to enter different weights lifted for a particular exercise on a particular day. It seems to assume that I will be lifting the same weight for each set on a given day. It also seems to assume that I lift the same number of reps for each set. For instance, if I perform the following Barbell Bench Press exercises on Monday: 1 set x 12 reps @ 50 lbs 1 set x 8 reps @ 50 lbs 1 set x 8 reps @ 45 lbs How would I enter that? It seems to be requiring me to enter "x # of sets", "x # of reps", and "x # of lbs" for Monday, but my reps and weight are not the same for each set. GG |
