Food & Exercise -- 8/24/2007
Atypical Friday today. Instead of my usual gym stuff, I went to the
conservancy for a trail-building day. We worked about 3 hours -- plenty in the hot weather we had today -- mostly pick-axing (don't know a word for this, and technically the implement I was using is a Pulaski, not a pickaxe). Afterward I went by the winery, and the conservancy director and one of the other volunteers went with me, and we sat out on the terrace drinking wine and sharing a food basket that we purchased there. Food: * 7:15 (home): oatmeal w/ peanut butter, flax seed, & dried blueberries * 10:45 (on the mountain, brought with me): 1 peach * 2:00 -- 3:30 (winery): 2 glasses wine; a few bites each of pita bread w/ hummus, water crackers, gouda cheese, goat cheese, summer sausage, grapes, marinated vegetables, baklava (1/2 piece) {All this from the "Mediterranean picnic basket". It's said to serve 2-4 people. The two guys and I ate all we wanted and I still brought home quite a bit for DH.} * 7:30 (home): ~6 oz. grilled red snapper; 2 ears corn on the cob; 2 large tomato slices w/ a little balsamic vinaigrette Exercise: 3 hours climbing up the mountain a ways and then digging up rocks and breaking up roots with the Pulaski (not non-stop -- took water breaks and such) Chris 262/130s/130s maintaining since June 2004 |
