get yourself a little jar of cloves. pop one in your mouth from time to time
and suck it. i had a flatmate who's of Sri Lankan origin said that that's what people chew on to freshen breath back home. mish wrote: can't chew gum? what do i chew. i hate my breath. |

If you want a sugar-free mouthwash, though, I can highly recommend Tom's of Maine, the cinnamon flavor. It's strong, it tastes good, and it will keep the bad breath under control for a good long while. I've also seen parsley oil capsuls for sale -- you end up belching back up parsley scent, which isn't the worst thing in the world. I don't know if there's a discernible carb count with those, but you might check them out. Daria 166/141/140 sugar-free since 2/1/04 low-carb since 2/17/04 |

And masking may be the best or only solution. Brushing and flossing address front-of-the-mouth halitosis related to stuck food particles, etc. But if the halitosis is coming from the back of the throat or up from the digestive system, you could spend your whole day brushing and flossing to no effect. Of course, you make a good point in that we should all brush and floss 3x daily, and that's the first place to attack any bad breath problem. But it's not going to solve all halitosis problems. If you want a sugar-free mouthwash, though, I can highly recommend Tom's of Maine, the cinnamon flavor.
