Default Nuts about nuts

I am *the* nut-o-holic, I swear. Proud to be that way, too! It doesn't
matter if it's peanuts, almonds, pecans...I love them all.

Here recently some friends that are LCing it along with me confided in me
about their fear of eating nuts because of the calories/carb count and how
easy it is to overdo it on nuts. I agreed that they're an addictive
treat...but I reminded them of how much more attractive a serving of
almonds looks than a serving of Metamucil or some other fiber supplement.

Granted, if you're counting calories, you'd be better off limiting yourself
on the nuts. But as for me, I make a nice LC trail mix of almonds, pecans,
and peanuts for my work snack every day and it fills me up till the
afternoon workout.

Anyone else feel that way about nuts? Honestly, they're my favorite food.

Yeah...I'm a friggin nut fiend...After my November disaster (I gained 4
lbs), I'm on a nut lock down. I just can't control myself. And the funny
thing is, before LCing, I never had such issues with nuts. It's probably
because I ate total crap instead, so never realized how much I like them. I
usually go for 1) almonds, 2) pecans, then 3) cashews. A mix of those would
put me in nut heaven.

Even if I buy a large bag of pecans I put my portion controlled amount in a
small "peanut" can. This way when I start eating too many I realize it as
the can starts to empty. It's too easy to exceed an appropriate carb or
calorie amount!

I find pecans are great to extend the time between meals; they even can
substitute for a meal if need be.

Oh, yeah, nuts are great. Almonds and pistachios are my downfalls (I mean,
favorites)

Yep. Same deal.

I got some at the health food store

What do you mean by raw? The ones I get are not roasted or salted, but I
don't need to crack them either. I just funnel them in

If I have any nuts in the house, even if they are put away...I will do a
search and destroy....Hence, the lockdown.

I feel you! Back when I was a junk food junkie, nuts were only something
that were covered in chocolate. The actual taste was obscured. When I
started LCing and eating nuts as themselves, the taste knocked me over. So
awesome!

The only nuts I really dislike, though, are the ones *******ized with salt.
They really mess up the taste. :P
