Indeed -- I always correct people who remark of my cycling to work
that it isn't about the exercise at all.

Frankly, with all the weight-lifting and running that I also do (and I
only jog 9-13 miles a week), I'm in worse shape than many fairly
sedentary types who have no mysterious pains or aches!

I certainly started exercising for the health benefits and weight loss. I
now mainly run because I enjoy racing. Whether I would continue to do it
with all the accompanying training if I didn't believe there was also a
health/weight maintenance benefit I'm not so sure.
