Ah. There you are, Eddie! I was wondering where you have been. I am
very glad to see you are posting.

As I've mentioned several times in this group, a big part of my diet
theory goes like this:

1. If you fall off the wagon, try again.
2. If you then fall off the wagon, try again.
3. If that still doesn't work, try again.
4. Failing that, try again.
5. And if all else fails, try again.

Basically, something will eventually "click" I think and you will be
able to go forward. (I also recommend a slight tweaking of what you
were doing before so you don't feel like you are falling into a run).

By the by, what is this TADA syndrome people are writing about? The
word "tada" in Japan could mean "free" or "just" (like in "just this
amount").

A Japanese saying is "Tada hodo takai mono ha nai" - "Nothing is as
expensive as something that is free."

Hey Doug!

Your diet theory is 100% bang on !!! I totally agree with you.

The "TADA" syndrome can best be described as a feeling/sigh of relief after
having completed a difficult task. You feel as though "you have
arrived!"....."you've made it!"......now you can relax a bit and forget
about the reasons that motivated your activity initially...........hence,
"TADA!!! I've made it! I'm here! everyone can applaud your efforts now!"

I feeling like my mental attitude in the right place now.......I'm looking
forward to getting back down those 83 lbs and beyond.......I remember how
you felt when you hit the 100 lbs loss mark - think about - didn't you feel
the "TADA" effect?

Talk to you, thank you so much for replying to my post.

I'm proud of you Eddie... that is an amazing accomplishment and it has taken
inner strength to do it, and I'm so thrilled over your progress and for your
life and ability to use your experiences in this as a ministry if you will
to help others also overcome the battles in their lives. Your strength of
heart is truly breathtaking! Keep on Keepin on!

Yes, the TADA syndrome got me for sure. I'm not sure if I ever told you
this or not (I know I have posted it previously, so the regulars here will
think I'm sounding like a broken record), but when I started WW, I
couldn't
even stand on my own for more than 5 minutes without excruciating pain in
my
back and breaking out in a major sweat! I couldn't even stand in line for
my first WI !!

Losing 83 lbs, well now it's only 67.8 lbs has changed my life
dramatically.
I can walk anywhere now without any concern. I am exercising 3 or 4 times
a
week doing weight lifting and the treadmill. I've actually started using
the elliptical trainer now!!!.......these are awesome achievements for me
and life-changing for the better.

There is no way I am ever going back to the brink. I won't let the Tada
Syndrome get the better of me again............never!

Aaaahhhh... the "tada syndrome!" You nailed it! I suffered from that
last
year after my initial 17 lb. loss with WW... and slowly but surely, it all
came back on. I was so depressed about that. And like you, it wasn't
binging that got me there, but the larger than should be portion sizes,
the
occasional cookie allowance which snowballed into more and more, and more
and more excuses than what I should have had!

It's just a little at a time, and kind of continum of smart choices, and
the
refocussed mindset of "I can do this..." just like the little engine that
could ; )

Thanks for sharing your heart in this... and for sharing the truth that
"this is something that I also will have to do for the rest of my life"...
this is so true for me as well. Looking at that statement is powerful...
and truly helps you focus that it's longterm, and that every day, and
every
food choice is counted toward the larger goal.

: )

Again, thanks for sharing your heart!
smiles!

Hello spaceyjane!

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I sincerely appreciate them.
Refocusing has been very hard for me since Christmas. I know I have the
ability to make the plan work, because I had previously lost 83 lbs.
Unfortunately, I think I allowed the "TADA syndrome" to take over and I
made
the conscience choice to indulge more than I should have. I didn't binge
and I never totally went off program, but rather indulged in bigger
portions, or the odd chocolate here or there, and before you know it, I
gained back 4, 5, 8, 10, 15, 20 lbs!!!

It's amazing how fast the weight can come back on! Actually, it's quite
scary!

Fortunately, my outlook on the situation is a renewed vigor to get back
on
track and be successfully. Putting 3 weeks together in a row was a
psychological victory for me.

Acknowledging that I have to do this for the rest of my life is actually
very empowering to me. Some may find it depressing, but I personally
feel
that it is the driving factor behind my determination to win this battle.

Way to go Eddie for not stopping the meetings, and for the recent loss!!!
That is awesome! You're inspiring in that you're not beating yourself
over
the head and going on with refocussing your effort. I think we all have
times where we feel the full force that "tomorrow is a new day".

Enjoy today Eddie! Thanks for posting again and showing us that we all
are
in this together!

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted. I've been in a serious rut since
Christmas and unfortunately gained back 20 lbs of the 83 lbs I had
previously lost. I've never stopped going to my meetings.

Quitting has never been, and will never be, an option for me, but in all
honesty I've really been struggling pretty much for quite a while.

I'm happy to report that I've been back on track for the last 3 weeks.
I
lost 0.4, then 1.6, then 2.8 at today's WI.

Feeling much better now and in good control.

I just wanted to say to everyone.
