Panel commissioned to update the Dietary Guidelines for Americans say to
turn off the tv and get some exercise!

Wow, who'd have ever thought that sensible advice would come from a
government panel.

The show on PBS was about ice cream (called An Ice Cream Show) and I was
amazed that almost all the ice cream makers (except for Ben & Jerry) and
servers were thin. I wonder if having an unlimited amount available curbs
those particular people's urge to eat not only ice cream but in general. If
it was me, I'm afraid I'd weigh 300 lbs if I could eat all the ice cream I
wanted!

I worked in an ice cream plant for a summer between college years. They had
a rule that you could eat all the free ice cream you wanted during breaks,
including lunch. I thought that was absolutely wonderful.

The first week.

You could always tell someone who was new. They were eating ice cream.

When I was just out of school, I worked at an ice cream store/coffee shop.
I have never been thinner! You get so totally sick of the food you cook,
serve and clean up you stop eating! Not to mention the fact it was a very
active job.

The only thing that saves me at the cafe I work at part-time is the
salad bar, They serve everything imaginable that's unhealthy from
Chicken Fried Steak to Double Meat cheeseburgers in which ALL the
servings are so monstrous one plate would feed 4 normal folks. The
Chicken fried steaks COVER a full platter. I can't eat anything from the
menu there. It's a typical country cafe. Everything is slathered in
cream or brown gravy and served with not one, but TWO homemade biscuits.
Friday nights is all you can eat fried catfish (and it is delicious)
with fries, homemade hushpuppies, corn and coleslaw. Sat nights is the
Steak and Shrimp special. Breakfast is served all day everyday. Today I
did eat there but I had 2 scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of bacon and then
later a small salad. I can't force myself to eat anything else from
there after serving it all day (it's the only game in my small town and
its VERY busy) Yuk.

I used to date a girl who worked at Subway, she would always bring
home subway food. I have not eaten there for years, and not due to any
romantic emotions of any sort -- simply got tired of that food.

Now that you make your own bread, don't you think the Subway rolls are
terrible? I just can't eat yuckky bread.

So I'm in the minority. However, I enjoy this new form of torture and
intend to carry it out on myself for some time.

Not totally alone Mike! My mom was the baker for our school system.
None of us ever got tired of those peanutbutter cookies s

CLA (Congelated Linolic Acid), a compound of milk fat, appears to be
one of the few (maybe only 2?) nutrients that truly help the body
'burn' fat.

I do not remember very well how those rolls tasted... But there was
somethign artificial to that food. Or maybe I was simply tired of it.

What bugged me was their *script*, it was the same at every one - "What
veggies are we having on that today?" and even though I adore veggies,
I'd feel compelled to say "Don't bother - put on extra bacon and mayo"
(I know, I'd cut off my nose to spite my face)
