what to eat at work?
i work swing shift, so i wind up eating both lunch and dinner at work. this
isn't optimal, because the kitchen at work consists of a microwave, sink, and fridge. i usually make a salad for lunch, bring an apple or string cheese for a snack, and for dinner, i bring a small container of frozen veggie mix (with a bit of butter!), and either a pre-cooked chicken breast or a frozen "Gorton's" fish fillet (not the breaded kind). not ideal, i know. i try to make enough dinner on the days i am home that i can bring leftovers, but the SO is usually pretty good at cleaning those up for me. :-) anybody have suggestions for portable, minimal cooking required meals? -kelly |

The specifics depend on what veggies and what meats we have, so it varies. Today there was leftover steak, so I sauteed onions, mushrooms, and green bellpeppers in butter, salt, pepper, and basil, then when they were pretty much done I added the leftover steak and just heated it. I do a lot of salads too, I usually put either shrimp, chicken, or ham in them. Deli meat and cheese rollups are good too. Hard boiled eggs are a good snack. -- Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws. |

what to eat at work?
anybody have suggestions for portable, minimal cooking required meals? -kelly I eat away from home a lot too. I go to the deli of any store, buy 1/2 pound of either sliced turkey or beef, 1/4 pound of chedder cheese and hot mustard, choose your own condiment. Then I make three or four wraps using the cheese and meat. Works for me. Ross |

Some great ideas here, I start a volunteer job next week.. Just to get a good reference and letter of reccomendation to add to my resume. I was just thinking what things to take for a snack and lunch. So thanks! |

Hehe, friday night at work I only had a big chuck of smoked, cooked turkey breast from SafeWay, and I was walking down the hallway at UC Davis, eating a 300 gram chunk of meat as if it were an apple. People who saw me seemed to think it was the most natural thing in the world - if I did that in Denmark, I would have received strange looks and lots of comments about my venture. |
