NAAFA pigs need horse scales to weigh themselves!
From the NAAFA discussion board:
"Comanche Recent Member Member # 3436 posted 06-17-2003 01:54 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Please don't laugh and don't take this the wrong way but... check out a local veterinarians office. They sometimes have to way larger animals such as sheep and cattle and horses and so forth..... Some actually have the scales on the ground level for that purpose. Another thing someone mentioned is getting two cheaper scales with good sized foot areas and putting a board across them both and standing on the board. I don't know if this works but it does make sense and you'd only have to do a little bit of addition.... " And this 600+ pound monstrosity uses a BULK MAIL weigher: "a1canesfan Recent Member Member # 3542 Rate Member posted 07-18-2003 07:50 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- I am 640 lbs (and shrinking...slowly but surely) and needed a way to track my progress, so I called my local post office. The person I spoke with told me they would be happy to help and accomodate me. They made arrangements for me to come in once a week at my convenience and use the scale in the bulk mail department. It is located right by the rear entrance, so I can get in and out quickly without drawing any un-wanted extra attention, and the scale is flat to the ground as they wheel carts on and off it all day. At first I felt very awkward, but I see the same 2 people there every week, and they're very friendly, and actually quite supportive. When I go to step onto the scale, they seem to go out of their way to make it clear they're looking the other way, so as not to make me feel like they're looking to see what I weigh. I understand all too well if anyone would be horrified by the thought of doing this, as I surely was when I began, but it has worked out well for me, so I wanted to share it with those of you in the same boat as I am. " Yep, seems normal! Ugh. HTH S*nort |
