16 days on my plan!
I think this is the longest I've stuck to any sort of diet plan before!
So far I've eaten less than 1600 calories everyday. My average so far is 1220 calories per day. I'm not losing weight very quickly. I hope I'm losing *some* weight...on the morning of the 2nd week I weighed in at 112 lbs, but just yesterday night I weighed 113 lbs. I'm just going to stick with the plan and hopefully I will lose slowly but surely. I'm guessing it will take at least another 2 weeks to really find out if I'm losing weight. I set my goal at the beginning and I have 8 weeks exactly to weigh 110 lbs. I have to lose 0.25 lb per week. Slowly, but surely...this is the fastest way. Cutting too many calories in the past only lead to failure and no weight loss at all. This super slow method will be the fastest method for me. I still have a lot of things to work on. I have to work on eating more whole grains, getting enough fibre, eating more vegetables and getting enough vitamins and minerals. I think I may have to take a multi-vitamin. On big thing I have to work on is exercise. I have to do more. I keep putting that off. jenny |

16 days on my plan!
Thanks for the encouragement D.
I think I'm going to try to aim for an average of 1100 calories/day. 10 times my weight is about 1100. It would be nice to see the numbers go down every week. I have to learn to change the way I eat, be satisfied with less food. I think I'll start planning my meals more...it might make the nutrition thing easier. jenny |

Many people forget that this is a lifetime commitment and all they want to do is quickly lose the weight then get back to their former eating pattern. Work on those areas you mentioned above and *add* that exercise It doesn't have to be a structured workout. You can begin by adding more steps to your daily routine, a few minutes of strength training exercises, etc. I think the multi-vitamin is a great idea. Those of us on the lower calorie ranges often have a more difficult time getting all the vitamins and minerals we need. You probably aren't worried about it now but getting the recommended amount of calcium will help in preventing problems down the road. You're doing fantastic! Beverly |

The slow approach will benefit you in the long run. I think you'll hit your 8 week goal but even if you don't, your approach increases your chances of remaining at the that goal at the 8 year mark which is much more admirable. Exercise would be great when you can work it into your schedule. Remember the mirror is your friend once you start exercising. The scale may not give you the answer you're looking for all the time (water weight gain from over-hydrating) but the change in body shape that you'll see in the looking glass will remind you that you're on the right track. -- Cheese http://cheesensweets.com/contact/cheese |

I agree with the others about adding exercise. It can only help you reach your goal. One other thing I didn't see anyone mention. To get the most accurate weight measurement you should weigh yourself when you first wake up before you've had any food or liquids. You're talking about a one pound difference which could easily be the weight of the food or water still in your system at night. Two cups of water alone weighs a pound. You may have even lost some weight and not realized it because of inconsitant weigh in times. -- Jeri "Change is inevitable, except from vending machines." |

You are definitely on track. Minor adjustments will probably need to be made along the way but that is to be expected. I set my goal at the beginning and I have 8 weeks exactly to weigh 110 lbs. Maybe you should set a goal of trying something new each week -- a new fruit or vegetable or whole grain or recipe... On big thing I have to work on is exercise. I have to do more. I keep putting that off. Hmmm. VBChick et al, do I hear a pedometer challenge coming on? -- jmk in NC |

16 days on my plan!/ pedometer challenge
jmk wrote: Hmmm. VBChick et al, do I hear a pedometer challenge coming on? -- jmk in NC Sounds like a great idea to me. Count me in. I may substitute some bike miles for steps :-) Maybe it can be a pedometer/general exercise challenge. Beverly |

Suggestions? I rode 48 miles on Sunday and that was the longest ride of the year for me. Not bad for someone who had a gimpy back less than six months ago! I feel very much on track for the Tour de Cure in June and MS150 in September. Woo hoo! -- jmk in NC |

16 days on my plan!
"jmk" wrote in message ... Hmmm. VBChick et al, do I hear a pedometer challenge coming on? Sure. What we are doing for our fitness challenge at work is equating 20 minutes of activity to a mile for those activities that aren't measured in miles. It's not necessarily equivalent or fair but then again life isn't fair. Also, our challenges her on ASD aren't competitive! -- the volleyballchick |
