Default Meeting Tip..PLEASE READ!

Great tips, Willow! Thanks for the tips. I didn't realize you were a leader
as well.

One MAJOR tip I'd like to add is.....

In the meetings, please don't monopolize the meeting time by answering every
question 1st and then interrupting the leader with your ideas and random
thoughts. It's rude and makes others feel like their responses don't matter
or may not get heard.

We all pay our dues and need the help. One-on-one time needs to be after the
meeting.

I do the same thing as almost everybody... light clothes, no food a few
hours before.. eat light the day before..

As staff though, I feel the need to give a few don'ts. Keep in mind that
WW
staff weigh in several hundred people a week, that for each meeting we
have
20-30 minutes to weigh in a lot of people, and that our goal is to be
able
to answer as many questions and concerns as we can in that little time!

************************************************** ************************************************** ***
So DO NOT:

- Get indecent, dressing light is fine, no staff at WW is interested in
looking at your bra, underwear... or lack of... really...

- Jump on the scale, move around try to lean over ect. Yes it makes the
numbers change, but they'll stabilize at the same number once you stop
moving no matter what you do, and it makes the WI 4 times longer..

- Show up at the scale until you have used the restroom, have your book,
coupons and or pass, membership book.... clothes that take a long time to
remove are off... Again it waste a lot of time...time that could be spend
answering questions, or helping a member with a problem.

- Walk up to the scale until the other member is gone and the staff is
done
writting in the member's folder. It's a privacy issue, you know that you
aren't looking, the previous member doesn't.

- Come back to ask a question you forgot about while another member is
standing on the scale... again... privacy...

- Ask another member out loud how they did unless you're absolutely sure
the
member doesn't mind. Even then...

-Share your entire life story including kids, grandkids, pets... keep the
topic on weight loss...

- DO NOT starve yourself before WI, even more if you are diabetic... it's
only a number, your health is much more important than the 0.2 you'll lose
by not eating all day. I had members pass out on me twice from low blood
sugar...
************************************************** ************************************************** ***

Here's a few DOs...

- Be honest, if you lie to us about your week, you're only cheating
yourself, we can't help you if we don't know what's going on.. we don't
judge... we been there!

- Ask questions, share concerns, seek information, support, a kick in the
behind!!! That's what we're there for, to help you get to goal and stay
there!

- Point out mistakes (nicely please), forgotten Awards, anything like
that.
I feel a lot less embarrassed to be told I forgot something, than realize
after everybody is gone that I did..

************************************************** ************************************************** ***

I'm sure there's plenty of other things that I'm not thinking about...

Bottom line is, remember you're in public, remember that a lot of people
are
very private about their weight, and keep in mind that our goal is to
provide as many members as we can with the help they need in the little
time
we have. Get the help you need, ask ask ask ask... the staff, the group!
Be
safe be healthy...

oh.. and SMILE!

Will~

That's a leader's nightmare... you don't want to be rude, but you want
everybody to have their "space" in the meeting...

I might add to this... DO TALK!!! some people are quiet by nature, or shy,
but the more everybody talks, the more everybody gets out of the meeting..

The talking in a meeting should be 20-25% leader 75-80% member!

I *SO* agree!
I wish that the leaders would understand that I pay $40 a month, I'm really
not interested that their daughter had a baby or that they got an A on their
math test. I often want to stand up and yell "GET TO THE POINT" I really
can't afford to pay $40 a month to listen to 30 min. of nothing.
I have found a new meeting, but I really wish I could get my money back for
my old one.
