The only postulate I can think of is that New Coke was a marketing scheme by Coca-Cola to generate interest in its "Classic" product thereby boosting sales. If that were the case, I guess I'd like to see a rundown of the cost and sales numbers to determine whether it worked. At any rate, I'd like to hear more about what you mean. I don't have a rundown, but it was pretty obvious. They got huge amounts of publicity over it, got to call their product "classic" and have kept the #1 spot in the market ever since.
