Default Is it really possible to loose weight?

Hi to all!

After a dozen tries, I lost faith in loosing weight. Is it really such
an impossible task?

The fact is, I don't have access to any kind of special diets, or
special medication, and the only way to loose weight is to eat as
little as possible.

I just wonder how fast do you actually loose weight? I don't have to
loose too much, but I just can't do that...

I really need your advice!

Yes. Losing weight, on the other hand, is very possible. You should
definitely look into it.

How fast you lose I think depends on how much you are burning and how
much you are eating. To lose a pound a week you have to expend 500 kcal
more than you are eating.

Like Peri said, weight loss takes patience and persistence.

I'm still working on those. The main thing is to think about your new
way of eating as your new way of life from now on.

Exercise is very important too. I really have to work on that one.

Can't or won't?

Losing weight is not impossible, it just takes patience, persistence and
determination. You don't need "special diets" or "special medication."
Hey, you don't even need to starve yourself.

I'd say that for 95% of people out there who need to lose weight, it
pretty much boils down to a) wanting it bad enough, and b) letting go of
the idea that weight loss should happen overnight.

I always get the nagging feeling that when someone asks me, "How did you
do it?" they're disappointed when I say, "Smaller portions, better
foods, and exercise." I get the impression they want an answer more
along the lines of, "Magic Wand."

Peri

You know, I get that all the time too...

My answer is always the same, learned to cook healthy, eat less and get my
behind at the gym every morning at 5 (while losing, I'm less fanatic now).

One lady even said something like "Yeah right, like anybody would get up at
5 in the morning several times a week just to lose a few lbs. Really what
did you do?"

Eat better, eat less, work out..

I did use the Weight Watchers program, works for me.. but.. no matter what
program.. it comes down to eat better, eat less, work out..

How hard is that to figure out? Not always easy to do! if it was, it
wouldn't be an issue for anyone.. but doesn't take Eisntein (however it's
spelled) to figure it out!

Easy formular

Intake - larger burn = weight loss.

Its that simple. No need to sign up for month membership at weight watchers.
Get a few used books about calories and healthy eating (about 20 dollars on
Amazon, used) and a 59 cent calculator and start adding, and subtracting

Its that simple

Or set up an account (free) at fitday.com, log everything you eat (be honest
about your serving sizes), set a maximum daily calorie expenditure limit and
stop, don't put another bite in your mouth, when you reach that limit. If
you don't lose weight, lower the limit and if you're losing more than 2
pounds a week raise it. Now figuring what to eat to reach that limit and
not be hungry is the tricky part that will require experimentation on your
part because you're uniquely you and I'm uniquely me in what will satisfy
your hunger and me mine.

Good to see you are still around and contributing to the group, Queen.

Thanks, Neil. I don't have much to contribute right now (the loose/lose
thing is a particular pet peeve, though). I have very little time or
energy for anything but school this semester.
