Impossible goal?
I've reached 181 pounds today for the first time in four months. I
make sure I don't starve myself to the point of frustration. In the last 10 days my daily calorie intake is 1510. I'm not very far from my goal of 175 pounds. When I was 163 pounds a few years ago, my belly was still showing. Ideally, I would need to weight about 150-155 pounds, but it seems like an impossible goal. I'm 5'8. I'm wondering if putting a lot of muscle on me would make my body look like more proportionned. Mike 197/181/175 |

Mike 197/181/175 155 lbs is a reasonable goal, unless you have a "large frame" (to test for this, see if you can touch your thumb and forefinger when you wrap them around the widest spot on the opposite wrist - if they can't touch, you're large-framed). At 155, your Body Mass Index would be 23.6 - a very healthy weight for your height. At 150, your BMI would be 22.8 - that's still in the healthy range, but might be difficult to achieve. Weight lifting is a good idea for most people...if you'll do it regularly. Actually, the "best exercise" is the one you find enjoyable, and that you'll stick with. GG |

I can't touch my thumb and forefinger. So, I'm large framed. I have two 15-pound dumbbells. I can start with that, I guess. Mike 197/181/175 |

What if you have short, stubby fingers? Isn't there an inch measurement, rather than the finger touching one? Otherwise someone with long tapering fingers would be one build while a person with small hands would be another build, even if thier wrists and heights were the same. Good point - the "finger touching" method is more a "rule of thumb" :-). Hi Mike,
I would be careful that you are not eating too little. Remember if you don't eat enough then your body will think that you are in a famine and reduce your metabolism - this is the last thing you want to do! Lifting weights is a good idea - but don't lifts weight in order to think that it will porportion out your body - ultimately your body still needs to lose weight :-) Regards, Keith Pabari Managing Editor http://www.amazingweightloss.com/ wrote in message oups.com... Heheheh Practical voice here.. but hum... I've RARELY seen long fingers on a large framed person.. fingers seems long cause they're thin.. But still a good point ! ;o) Will~ |
