Fiber pains
Lately I've started eating more fiber. Problem is, it gives me gas.
Bad. Anything I can take with it (other than drink water after eating it) that can help? It's Kashi cereal and bars I'm eating, mostly. Thanks. |

It may also help to lessen the amount of kashi bars and cereal, and get some fiber through fresh veggies and fruit. Not that Kashi isn't good stuff, but your body may not be used to it and it does tend to provide a lot of fiber. -- Cynthia 262/241/152 |

It's Kashi cereal and bars I'm eating, mostly. Thanks. Sure. Buy the Beano tablets; they work. Building up is good advice. I also eat a very high fiber diet and gas is no longer a problem. I didn't really build up and the gas problem slowly went away after a few months and I only took Beano a couple of times just to see if it worked and it does. Can't you just take long walks with your dog? He/ she won't mind. The other trick is to handle it just like running a red light. First you look left, then you look right, then behind you....especially behind you...then let her rip if the coast is clear. dkw |

And drink lots and lots of water. Amy -- Check it out! http://www.tcfitnesschallenge.com/index.html |

It's Kashi cereal and bars I'm eating, mostly. Thanks. Some people are sensitive to certain fibers. Chicory Root Fiber (inulin) is one fiber that I know some people have problems digesting. You might adjust to the added fiber within a month or so or you might want to try beano (digestive enzymes) or you might want to try different forms of fiber. -- jmk in NC |
