Yes, my posting on rfc has tapered off a lot. I guess part of it is what you speak of--I don't really mind off-topic posts so much, since I can just click past them, but the nastiness does get to me. It's funny, because that used to be my main group, and I HAD to go there at least once a day. Now I got there every few days, and I might go even less but then I would be buried in posts. Your cookbooks still languish on my floor BTW. And now I have one for someone else languishing up here. I have to figure out how to actually make some progress with that. I managed to kf most of the posters who bothered me most and that helped a little (very little, but a little). Now I only read posts with specific topics that interest me and/or posts by certain people (whom I have highlighted). That actually leads to very little reading (maybe fewer than 2 doz. posts/day). However, I may be moving back to Japan in the spring, so if I can get off my butt to do that, then I won't mind not finishing yet :-). We might be heading to NH for Christmas and that would include at least a day trip to Boston. Maybe we could meet up somewhere (if it happens)? That is the one place my daughter really wants to go, since she is really into anime and manga and plans to be a manga artist when she grows up. (No comment...) Of course, it would halp if I remembered some Japanese. My daughter says she is teaching herself Japanese. I'll let you know in December if we make it to NH. I'd love to hit Boston and the Cambridge area, but it's hard travelling around with my niece--she's only 4 so her parents tend to schedule everything around her schedule (what would keep her interested, her naptimes, etc.). She gets cranky when she doesn't get her nap!
