Latest perils of Atkins in the U.K.
I thought readers would like to see the latest offering from the Mirror (I must
say I do not read the Mirror, I read it on the net). 27 year old woman trapped in bath as Atkins left her unable to move her legs! And even more bizarre, 40 year old pervert blamed Atkins diet for his sex attack on 83 year old grandmother! They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel! Also "The Publican" has warned pub landlords to stop serving Atkins friendly meals--apparently its O.K. to serve low carb meals ( which are becoming hugely popular in pubs) as long as you don't mention Atkins! Latest perils of Atkins in the U.K. - sex fiend

Also reported in the express under the headline "atkins diet turned me into a sex fiend". And they really are stretching reality for this one - Apparently he is "battling an addiction to alcohol" but "he was so dehydrated by the diet that even a reduced intake had a serious effect on him". So obviously he didn't read the bit about "drinking lots of water" as part of the diet... So it's apparently atkins fault that a violent drunk got drunk after apparently forgetting to drink anything other than alochol! |

Oh this is priceless (from the Mirror article):
A WOMAN told yesterday how she became trapped in a bath after the Atkins diet left her unable to move her legs. Sally Vickers, 27, was so dehydrated by the high-protein eating plan she developed severe cramps. The accountancy manager got into the bath to try and ease the pain. But it got so bad she could not move and had to lie there until boyfriend Paul Roberts came home. Sally, of Rennington, Northumberland, said: "I got into the bath and my legs seized up. I couldn't move at all. It was frightening." Paul took her to hospital where doctors told her she was badly dehydrated. I have a simple solution for her: DRINK WATER!!!! I have been low-carbing for a while now and have never had any problems like this. It sounds like a problem with personal stupidity, not Atkins! Sounds like she called it Atkins but hadn't actually read the book, if she let herself become that dehydrated. Stupid bitch! (but I guess any weight loss really was just water!)
