hungry on maintenance...
"Ignoramus11008" wrote in message ... I have officially been on maintenance for a month. And I find, much to my disappointment, that I maintained all this weight while eating only marginally more than what I have been eating during weight loss. I was hoping that I would not be hungry once I decide to maintain weight. But no, I am still hungry a good part of the day. Not to the point of being miserable, but I would like to be less hungry. Any ideas on how to deal with this... i 223/177/180 Have you tried smaller meals with some snacks to keep a little something in the stomach to avoid hunger? I usually eat my meals at 7am, 11:30am and 7pm. I always have a mid morning and afternoon snack to keep from getting too hungry before the next meal. I often add an additional snack in the afternoon if I'm heading off to Curves as it means dinner won't be until after 8:00pm. I've found smaller meals with a few in-between snacks really keeps me from getting hungry. Beverly |

If you lose alot of weight, but a large portion of what you lost is muscle, then you will have also lost a significant part of your metabolism. You will have to eat less calories to maintain your weight. det |

I keep a 1400 ceiling on my calorie count, but usually don't go over 1300 during the week. That's at a current weight of 113-115 lbs, so I'm eating around 12x my body weight, give or take. Try eating around 2100 calories, and see what happens... Amy 168/115 (today)/113 |

Maybe you need a different balance of food? More fiber? more protein? more fat? Mieko |

Black, because milk or sugar in it might make you hungry. 2) Psyllium in water 3) Canned green or yellow beans (Two cans give you a total of 25 calories!) 4) Eat more vegetables and fruits. How much of these do you eat a day, Beverly? |

Beverly is not the OP. 1) A cup of black coffee after each meal, and one before going to bed (caffeine-free, of course). Black, because milk or sugar in it might make you hungry. it's the caffeine in coffee that causes the appetite suppressant effect - caffeine free would be useless... 2) Psyllium in water I just started using this in my protein shakes and it seems to stick with me much longer 3) Canned green or yellow beans (Two cans give you a total of 25 calories!) canned vegetables are total crap - no fiber or vitamins left in them after the major processing they go through. However, adding fresh veggies to a diet is a good idea. det |

I understand your volume deal and my husband lost over 100 pounds just the same way, but maybe you need more. How about some meat? ;-) -- Walking on . . . hungry on maintenance...
Well, to quote you yourself on the hunger issue Iggy.. "it's ok to be
hungry" just because you are in maintenance does not mean that you have to be sated 24/7 does it? Are you sure you are actually hungry at that 3pm point or are you head hungry? Every day I take to work whatever I want. Which is sandwiches in the morning, one pint of food for lunch (usually some carbs, meat/fish and walnuts), etc. I am generally hungry until about 3 pm. Not too hungry but wanting to get this or that snack. i 223/177/180 |
