Down 50 lbs today!
Everyone,
I want to share that as of this morning, I have lost 50 pounds since 11/03. (This includes a "break" during the holidays - never again!) It is all Atkins, nothing else. Things I've learned (IMHO): 1. Don't do Induction too long. I stalled for 3 weeks until someone here noted that you DO need the right kinds and amounts of carbs to lose weight. I thought that more induction was better. Not for me. 2. When the desire to cheat is the greatest, I am usually rewarded the next day if I remain true. 3. I have never felt better than when I am lC'ing for extended periods of time. Large amounts of junk carbs, suddenly consumed (binge) now make me emotionally and physically troubled until I "dry out". 4. Fitday.com (non-rant) is one of the best things I have done to learn more about me and how I eat. 5. Phyllium is one of my best friends (enough said...) 6. The people in this NG help in ways they'll never know by the thoughts and feelings they share every day. I come here twice a day to see what's new. I may not know any of you, but I owe you much. 7. Cheat for a day, and it takes me about a week to recover. Too much work for too little pleasure. Thanks to all of you! Coff Damn, life is good! 303/253/185 |

I'll try adding 5-10 a day, and see what happens. Are you not losing weight at induction level of carbs? I just finished my first two weeks, and lost 6 pounds, same as last year. My weight loss pattern goes a little like this: I lose nothing at all for three weeks, then, WHAMMO! I lose five pounds in two days. I could consider those three weeks stalls, but in reality, they're just part of my body's natural rhythm. Happens like clockwork. This may or may not be associated with my ovaries. It remains to be seen whether this pattern will follow this time around. I haven't been feeling very hungry lately, but have been eating what I can, anyway. Try as I might, my calories have been running between 800 and 1200. I have probably put my body into starvation mode, since my under-eating was preceded by astronomical carb levels. In the past, I've added calories by using a LOT of olive oil on my salads, a LOT of butter on my veggies, and more heavy cream than I normally would. I do prefer to get most of my additional calories from olive oil, since it's much more healthful. I do think that this is too early for me to have stopped losing regularly. In fact, I lost 7 pounds the first week, and have now gained 2 pounds back. All I can think of is that my calorie intake is too low, and my body is trying to defend itself. Your body, your science experiment, as they say. Carol -- Low Carb since March 12, 2004 |
