....and John Coletrane:

My Favorite Things

Pancakes with syrup and covered in butter,
Ice cream that's made from the stuff from cows' udders,
Tasty French pastries that made my heart sing-
I've had to give up my favorite things!

No more potatoes and no more tortillas,
All my coffees are now sugar free-as!
I got so fat that I broke the bedsprings
So I had to give up my favorite things!

No Fig Newtons,
No spaghetti,
And no Scotch at all!
Yes I had to give up my favorite things
In hopes that I'll get very small!

Better to go positive:

Lobster with butter and slathered with garlic,
Beef stack that's aged till I want to plate lick,
Broccoli cheese sauce and jeweled salad bling,
I get to eat well of my favorite things!

Lobster looks just too much like an insect. I can't do it.

It's an arthropod.

....As are insects and arachnids.

Well -- you're close. Alton Brown says not to feel bad about boiling
the little suckers alive 'cause their just one step above cock
roaches. He had one of those neet charts and everything.

Yum.

Did anyone else see that "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" episode
where they had the guy make lobster (salad?) for his gf/wife, showed
him how to dispatch the beast with a knife stroke to the head -- but
he didn't "get it?" Slaughtered it on TV -- it was a viral video
moment -- watching all the Queer Eye guys try to keep from whoopsing
their horse dorvers while they were watching that.

LOL!!!

To paraphrase a line from one of my favorite movies, Pulp
Fiction:

.... a cockroach my taste like lobster, but I'll never know.

Well, a bit new here.

But just to chime in, I gave it all up until tonight, when I did have to
indulge in a bit of scotch, in memory of those who have gone before.

Thanks for mentioning the giving up of the scotch. It's truly fattening.

Kent

If it is of any consolation, consider that the human race lived for
millions of years without whisky and did not seem to suffer terribly
from the lack of it.
