Default Weight maintenance over the holidays

The article comes from a cycling website but has some sensible
information for getting through the holidays. I've never tried to lose
weight this time of year but have always aimed for maintaining. How do
others in the group treat the holiday season - maintain or try to lose
weight?

I guess since my regular way of eating has always involved occasional
splurges for dinners out and such, I don't view the holidays as any
different. There may be a few more evenings out, but not that much.
(Of course, maybe I just don't have a very exciting social life :-).)
I don't, though, use the holidays as an excuse to drop my normal
practices. There's no need for me to bring extra sweets and goodies
into our home (though I recognize this may be harder for those with
children). And the holidays aren't an excuse to cut back on exercise.
So, anyway, I've never really felt the holidays were a big issue.
(Now, going on vacation, on the other hand... :-).)

I'm just the opposite. Vacations don't pose a problem for me but getting
through the holidays can be troublesome. I have a tendency to nibble on
sweets, etc. I don't keep them around the house but they're always
plentiful at work and other events.

We're having our department holiday carry-in tomorrow and thankfully I have
a meeting scheduled shortly after the luncheon so I won't be able to linger
at the table
