Weight Loss or Better Health
Hi Group,
I been Carycribing to the low carb philosophy for a while and I am wondering what others are thinking about this. Sure it is easy to say eating refined carbs are pretty bad for us. Everyone can agree with that. Reducing the amount of these carbohydrates is better for anyones health and will result in weight loss as well. What do you think? Does weight loss on a low carb diet result mainly because eating low-carb foods are more satisfying and keep full longer resulting in less calorie intake during your day or does eating low-carb shift your body into fatburning mode making it use fat for energy instead of carbs. Myself I find low-carb easy to stick to and weight loss results but I am not sure it is because ketosis switches my body into burning fat or I just eat fewer calories. Lately I've been thinking about this and I am sure it is a combination of both. I notice myself gaining weight when the calories go up but weight loss occurs when I fall back on a variation of induction. * |

Both....the first is surely obvious to any low-carber, while the second has to be true too since you're eating LC food, with is generally high in fat. So whatever you eat supplies energy to your burn, so you can say you're burning fat (I personally don't like such terms since you're also burning whatever carbs you eat too). :: :: Myself I find low-carb easy to stick to and weight loss results but :: I am not sure it is because ketosis switches my body into burning :: fat or I just eat fewer calories. Well, in the end, you lose weight because you eat fewer calories than your body needs. |

Weight Loss or Better Health
In article , says...
Well, in the end, you lose weight because you eat fewer calories than your body needs. There is also the issue of excess insulin in a high-carb diet, however, which is more likely to create ongoing fat DEPOSITS as opposed to WITHDRAWALS, which could certainly slow down any attempted weight loss. -- Saffire 205/158/125 - 5'2.5" Atkins since 6/14/03 Progress photo: http://photos.yahoo.com/saffire333 |
