FYI, I started a diet 5/02 using Medifast VLCD. I lost 82 pounds by 11/02.

I've done fairly well at maintaining -- using a combination of low-carb and
exercise. I went a little nuts over Halloween and gained 7 pounds. I
gained 3 more by Thanksgiving.

So I'm not back on Medifast. I've lost 4 pounds in about 5 days. I've been
on a plateau for 3 days, but that is not unexpected.

This group is a great motivator for me. BTW -- where is "Determined"?

You asked my height: 5 foot 8.5 inches and female.

143 is just about right for me. All my clothes were getting tight and I'm
so glad I didn't just get depressed and not do anything. I just passed the
one year mark on mantenance.

Continue onward.

How do I manage to maintain? I weigh myself every day. If I'm up a pound
or two I dilligently follow low-carb reasonably low calorie and it is
usually gone the next day.

That was before Halloween and the candy binge!

I also exercise 3 days a week -- 20 to 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes
of weights.

Medifast is safe. It is not like going on a starvation diet / fast.
Medifast is used by over 15,000 doctors to help people lose weight, as I did
when I lost the 80 pounds.

I only have about 5-7 pounds to lose now that the 5 are gone. I figure it
will take another 2 weeks (probably 2-3 pounds a week) which isn't too
radical. I'm hypothyroid and even on meds I can't lose weight too rapidly.

Glad to see you checking back in with us. Looks like you have maintenance
under control - congratulations.

This group helps keep me "honest." If I start slipping I show up here and
feel like I have to report in. . .so it is a great help to me.

As for having maintenance under control. . .that remains to be seen. It has
been one year, which is great -- but I'll feel a lot better if in 10 years
(even 5) I'm still at 143-147.

Dilligence!

Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.

Me too. It helps keep me honest as well. This has been a bad week, in more
ways than just food, but it's nothing I'll crumble over. Time to get going
and start watching what I eat more carefully.
