I did oatmeal this morning(1 cup with 1 cup water) and it was a thick gruel. Next time I'll use a bigger ratio of water/milk to oatmeal and maybe add in honey. * 1:30: 4 oz. ground turkey breast burger on whole wheat hamburger bun w/ 3 slices f/f cheese, dill pickle slices, & catsup BTW, those turkey burgers are pretty high in calories! I didn't know until I checked the package. Oh and I returned my Cuisnart grill, since I didn't want to hastle scraping it off every time. What's the convenience? |

I use an instant mix. I haven't made regular oatmeal for a while and don't recall the ratios. But the instant instructions also specify a range of water amounts that can be used, and I prefer the larger amount. (I'm not eating as large a portion as you are, though.) BTW, those turkey burgers are pretty high in calories! I didn't know until I checked the package. Well, I'm not using pre-made burgers, just plain ground turkey breast that I form into patties. Turkey breast is very lean; 4 oz. has just 120 calories and 1g of fat. The pre-made burgers often contain other parts of the turkey, and sometimes fillers that may add calories. I have on occasion used pre-made burgers from Jennie-O. They aren't too bad -- 160 calories -- but they're a fair bit smaller than my 4 oz. of ground turkey breast. Some people don't like the ground turkey breast because it can be dry, since it has so little fat. But I've come to prefer it. However, when I make turkey meatloaf I use the 93% lean mix, as otherwise the meatloaf comes out too dry. Chris 262/130s/130s started dieting July 2002, maintaining since June 2004 |
