Not anymore, at least in northern Illinois. Until early this fall a dozen large
eggs were between $0.89 and $0.99. Overnight they jumped to $1.29. Today they
were $1.49. I don't know why they suddenly went up so much. Maybe the
chickens' union got a better contract.

They did! It was in "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type".

(text is here, but it's way better with the original illustrations:

Simple law of supply and demand. LCers demand eggs, there are lots more
LCers than ever, supply hasn't caught up yet, so the price goes up.

Still, if you eat like I do, that's 4 meals for $1.49.

Am starting to believe that with the meat prices as well. Was used to roasts
around $1.89 a pound, now for the same cut of meat is usually around $2.89!
Wow...guess the cows wanted in on it to maybe. BTW...buying the cheaper cuts
of meat like whole roasts, slice it into steaks and they are great on the
grill!
