Progress so far
I've been doing Atkins since 2/29. The first two weeks on induction I lost
6.5 lbs out of my goal of 24.5. I have contined to stay on induction (this is the third week), and have seen the scale go up and down by 1 or two pounds daily, without a further drop in weight. I have read in this group that it sometimes takes the body a while to adjust after that initial drop, and I hope that is what is happening. I am drinking 73 oz. of water daily, going to Curves 4 or 5 times a week and walking the dogs for a half-hour or so. My only downfall (if you can call it that) is that I may go over on the amount of salad greens I eat. For example, I may have 3 cups of romaine lettuce in my lunchtime salad, and then have another cup (generous) of veggies at dinnertime. I'm a vegetable lover, and my firm belief in quantity over quality is probably what got me to Atkins in the first place I don't really care for nuts, and the only snack I may have is an occasional piece of string cheese around 4 pm if I will be having dinner late. In the evenings I have a cup of herbal tea with no sweetener. I drink two cups of coffee with stevia in the morning. My daily carb count varies from 18 to 22, according to fitday. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. This is the longest plateau I have ever had in all my lengthy dieting experience. This is a great group, lots of support and encouragement here. Onoma Starving yourself of carbs does does not make you lose weight better. Begin Phase 2-OWL and start upping your carbs. It will likely break the stall. Watch out for adding food that trigger over-eating as you add stuff. DiGiTAL_ViNYL (no email) 350/316/Mar-315/200 Atkins since Jan 12, 2004 |

Stalls happen. I didn't lose anything the third or fourth week, then resumed
losing again. And when I upped my carbs some, I broke the stall, just like Digital Vinyl discussed. I wouldn't worry about eating too much salad (I have no credentials, I'm just opinionated). I do know that on Weight Watchers, you can eat all the salad you want because it has "zero points" on their value system. Dressings are another matter. Seems to me you are doing well. Three week and 1/4th of your goal done.
I wonder why many people including me hope to get on any diet and expect to lose the whole amount of goal weight in one day. I know it took me a LONG time to get this fat, gonna take awhile to get it off. Point is, be have patience. "onoma" wrote in message news:i3j6c.16638$uh.11699@fed1read02... Thanks to all who replied. I have decided to raise my carbs up to 25 per
day and see how that works out. I will keep up with the exercise and water, and hope to see a whoosh real soon. I am driving from the central coast area of California up to San Francisco tomorrow for a quick one-day business trip. I am bringing hardboiled eggs and nuts along with me to supplement whatever other foods are available. There is a luncheon involved on this trip, and I heard it is salad. I am confident I can stick to the Atkins Diet while away from home. Onoma LC since 2/29/04 139.5/133/115 |

In fact, I am going to "fall back" on Atkins if I ever can't stay on low-calorie for day! doug |
