"Federal law restricts the growing of
oriental poppies. The kind that produce opium." =A0=A0Pan Ohco Well, you cant grow acres of opium poppies for the purpose of extracting the opium, in America. You CAN cultivate any of the dozens of poppies that contain the alcoloids that produce opium, as garden flowers. Even the poppy seeds you buy in the grocery store to put on muffins can be cultivated and do contain a small amount of the alcoloids of the papovar poppy. The most common red and purple poppies found in any garden contain the alcoloid. You can also buy dried opium poppy pods for use in floral arrangements. What you may not know is, in order to produce an ounce of raw opium requires many acres of poppies. The yield per poppy is minute. You could grow a few dozen in any garden (legal) and MIGHT get enough raw opium to smoke one time. (this is of course, illegal) To produce a significant amount of raw opium requires many acres of poppies and many workers who, for pennies a day, will go thru the fields using small razor-like tools to scrape each pod, then go back the next day to carefully collect the tiny drop of resin from the scrapes. It's too labor intensive for too small a yeild to be worth the trouble, unless you happen to live in Afghanistan, say, and are happy to work many hours for a few pennies and have nothing else to sell. You can legally buy the most potent of the papovar poppy seeds (Persian White) on-line from American companies. !5 bucks a gram. Problem is, from a gram of seeds, you might bring a dozen flowers to maturity, 15 if you're very lucky. From 15 flowers, you might get two drops of raw opium. Whoopie. google for 'where to buy opium poppy seeds". You'll be amazed. LassChance |

"And does she suffer from chronic physical pain?" Roger Zoul
No, and if I did, I would use a NON-opiate for chronic pain. Opiates are addictive, hadnt you heard? It's only safe to use opiates occassionally. Daily use WILL lead to addiction, as many and many a prescription opiate user can attest. In pracical terms, since it takes a full growing season and you might get a dozen flowers to maturity from a gram of seeds...and from the dozen mature flowers you might get two drops of raw O, enough to smear on a cigarette and get high once... the addiction factor is pretty moot, wouldnt you say?. Taking prescription opiates daily for pain is how people get addicted, all nice and legal, not from cultivating poppies in their garden for a once-a-year, one time high. LassChance |

"Download a copy of Afroman's "Because
I Got high," you can play it while you're smoking your next reefer."~Merengo Oh, you can bet I'll do that. And Im sure the wsidom contained therein will overshadow 30 years of personal experience. What's 30 years of good experiences, compared to one person's bad experience? Here's an idea---if you dont approve of pot, dont smoke it. Id go to my grave defending your right to decide for yourself...as Im sure you would, mine. LassChance |

The winner of that election has plunged the U.S. into the biggest financial deficit in the history of our country, and it's getting deeper by the day. He's trying to destroy our social security system. He's wasting his time trying to get constitutional amendments passed that will take away the rights of certain segments of Americans (never done before by any president in history). And I don't even have to mention the sensless war -- based on the WMD ploy -- that has killed and wounded thousands of young Americans, has lined the pockets of his oil cronies and tripled the price of gasoline in the U.S. Not to mention alienated the entire world (except for his butt buddy only Blair). Do you think that these are good things? I've said it before, I am not a democrat -- nor a republican; I just call 'em like I see 'em. I was a big supporter of both Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, two great presidents. Bush's father was OK. But the people that blindly support this man just because Rush Limbaugh says so astounds me! There are rumors that Guliani may run for president. That is another republican whom I would support. He has common sense and guts, and would represent the American people, not just his chosen few. All IMO of course! Peter |

Go ahead and put Hillary up there on the platform. You'll be even more of a laughing stock than you were with Kerry. Marsha/Ohio There are those that think Kerry was a "ringer". Kerry, like Bush, is a member of the Skull and Crossbones Society Fraternity.... Skull and Bones. Bunch from Yale. Skull and crossbones is that pirate symbol. Close enough. Pastorio |
