Hey, does the ATkins diet actually work? It seems kind of weird to me that
you can eat fatty foods and lose weight. My understanding is that you eat
meat, cheese, and some vegetables. If anyone could please explain this to
me and explain exactly what to eat I would be extremely grateful.

Buy a book, but until you do....
www.atkinscenter.com has tons of info. Go to the section on How to do
Atkins.

Best of luck,

There is just too much to cram into a usenet post. The site is packed with
info.

A typical misunderstanding of people who do not research the diet is that
Atkins = fat and calories. Actually I eat more protein, I do eat a bit more
fat, but my calories are way down and the reduction in carbs has evened out
my blood glucose to the point where I feel better than I have in 20 years.

I'm 5'7" and started about 6 weeks ago at 199 pounds. I'm down to about 185.
14 pounds may not seem like a lot, but the gradual loss is much healthier
than the fad diets out there.

BTW, it's a way of life, not a diet.

I am sorry about the bacon and eggs diet misconception. I am tired of the
media touting fatty beef etc. They never once show a green salad or
brocolli or turnip greens, or pure grains, flaxseed etc. as part of the
lifestyle. They are scared of this revolution and only giving half of the
information. I eat more veges (green ones) now then I ever ate in my
"normal" diet, it was mostly the canned cheapies, corn and peas.
