Default starbucks???

Wise choice!

Isn't it interesting we can't talk to the neighbor who lives next to us, but
we have all day to chat with faceless people we don't know anything about.

I talk to my neighbour, not every day but at least once a week.

On Sun, 26 Oct 2003 14:36:10 GMT, Walter H. Lewis III
announced in front of God and everybody:

The last time I ventured in -- out of desperation and a need for
caffine -- What I saw was a super automatic machine taking ALL the
skill out of pulling a shot. What stood in front of the machine was a
trained monkey not a Barista.

You know, you're right -- I forgot about those. They started using
those after I worked there. I remember when they were talking about
getting them, and there was a lot of discussion at my store about
control of quality.

Ostensibly, the barista is supposed to be watching the pull and
adjusting the tamp if the shots aren;t correct. But tryjfully, I'll
bet you;re right -- they probably aren't. Starbucks makes their money
by volume, and whenever automation comes into the picture efficiency
goes up and quality goes down.

So, yes ... I'll bet the majority of the time you're getting just what
comes off the machine regardless. I can only hope that they still
educate their staff on the coffee they sell, as well.

Me, I usually drink Torrefazione. I've yet to make that jump to
roasting my own, although there's a guy here in Portland who'll roast
custom blends and deliver that same morning to your house. The stuff's
awesome.

Default OT: Windsor (was starbucks???)

We were in Windsor for a wedding a couple of weekends ago. Seems like a
nice city, but I'm not really sure I understand the lure of gambling...

Had a lovely dinner at the Hilton Windsor: mussels in cream sauce,
followed by salmon with grilled veggies. Yum!

Jolene, in Toledo Ohio

PS - Nothing scarier than crossing the border for the first time! *8)

If you're from Windsor, we should maybe meet. I live on the other side of
the pond. Of course, if you're not into that kind of thing, then okay, but
I always like to spend face time with the folks that live near me on these
NG's when it works for all parties concerned.

on a roll .. I just can't shut up. LOL

I'm the same way once I get to know a person and am able to feel that
I can trust them.
