Default been two weeks and doing okay.......

I have been on track now for about two weeks and I am doing much better.
Haven't had any donuts or tim bits since about May 1/04. I've given up
criossants and now am working on giving up tea biscuts and muffins. I had
one muffin today. And one tea biscut. I have also done not too bad with my
diet pop. Althought I am still working on cutting back on that.
I have decided not to give it up altoghter. But I am going to limit how
much I have cause I tend to go over board with it. Also I'm trying to allow
my self one small ice capp, once a week as a treat. But only if I do well
with my eating and exercise. I have exercised pretty much everyday for the
past two weeks. Allowing for two rest days. Which are on the weekend.
Saturday and Sunday.
I am eating three meals a day and am working on only eating when I am
hungry and not when I am board. If at work I am not buisy with customers I
find something for myself to do instead of standing around and eating. Also
my doctor and I'm sure others on here or on my other groups have mentioned
this before. But I take a drink if I find that I am hungry or think that I
am hungry wait 15 mins to see if I still want something to eat if not then
I walk away or continue to drink. Also I try to drink lots of water before I
go to work So I am not hungry when I get there. And it usually works cause I
spend more time in the bathroom then worry about food. my friends wedding is
one week from friday that just past. And I have lost the weight or at least
some of the weight I gained a couple of months ago. I am pleased with this.
Now if I could just get my eating time under control and cut out the muffins
and tea biscuts then I would be happy.
My goal now is to get back under 130lbs, and then to 125lbs. And then
finally to my final goal of 108-110lbs which ever come first. I'm trying to
set a cut off time for when I eat at night. But it's hard because of the
hours I work. I work a lot of shift work. But I am aiming for 9 at night as
the last time Before I can eat anything. after that I can't eat. then I will
aim for say 7 or 7 30 . Taking baby steps.
Okay enought rambling time to go. Sorry so long

I think that is a good plan. I do something similar with my latte. I
never gave it up and only had one when I had "room" in my calorie budget
but I do typically have one on Wednesday after my spin class at the gym.
The class is at 7:30 p.m. and the rule is if I go to the class and I
work hard, I can pick up a medium skim latte on the way home. It's kind
of an extra motivator (I love the instructor. He does a great job with
the class. It's just a dumb time for a class, as far as I am
concerned.) It's also a way to celebrate the end of "hump day."

Do you think the spin class has helped your biking? The gym I just joined
will be doing some remodeling this summer and adding a spin class. I was
thinking I could do this over the winter and possibly avoid having to get
the legs back into biking condition in the spring. I can normally bike for
8 months out of the year but it often becomes impossible November through
February.

Do you think the spin class has helped your biking?

Yes. My average speed (what the bike computer calculates over the
entire ride), has increased since the fall. My hill work is somewhat
better as well. I was actually just going for maintaining my fitness
level through the off-season but I think that it did actually improve
(or maybe just change) my riding somewhat.

Yes, I am in the same situation here. I have decided to continue to go
to spin class 2x a week (Wed and Fri) during the summer and ride 3-4x a
week outside (Sat, Sun, Tues and perhaps Thur), weather permitting. I
go to the gym on Monday and Thursday for other stuff now.

Thanks. I imagine it will be late summer before the spin classes start so
this will work into my schedule at the right time. The trainer I spoke
with thought this might be a class I would be interested in taking.

Hills will probably be a problem for me as most of the bike trails around
here are old railroad beds and don't have a lot of hills. Some of them do
have some very long uphill grades. Some of the newer trails they've
constructed to join the parks do have hills but I haven't had a chance to
ride them. I've been taking a different route around the neighborhood to
include a couple of hills in my evening rides. Who knows - maybe someday
I'll be able to tackle the "killer hill" on our ride to the amusement park!

I'm still getting use to the new road bike. So far I haven't had too many
problems. It was quite a challenge to change from the handle bar shifters
to the STI shifters. Now that I feel comfortable with those I think I'm
ready to tackle the SPD pedals. Everyone has warned me I'll probably take
a fall or two before I learn to disengage them when I stop. I'm just
hoping I'm near a grassy area when this happensg

Why don't you consider trying to find another job? I'm not sure I'd do that
well either working around that type of food. What about getting a job where
there's more physical activity, like a Home Depot or something?
