I was bad today :-(
I'd say, somebody spank me, but who the hell is going to spank a middle-aged
fat man? (I can't seem to find anybody, anyway.) Well, I couldn't have done that much damage. Back to the grindstone. Screwing up one day isn't so bad. Making it into a stupid excuse to go back to the way I used to eat -- THAT would be a real screw-up. All I really wanted to do today was to pull the covers over my head and sleep all day. Had I done so... well. Its like that poem about ducks. "If" |

But the thing is, I just plan on it every now and then on special occasions, which means I don't have to tell myself I was "bad" or feel bad the next day or anything. It's just part of the plan -- so of course the next day is back to my usual way of eating and exercise. Whatever your strategy is about the occasional day of excess, the whole key is to get right back to normal. Let me note that I lost 130 lbs. while having frequent splurges throughout :-). "If" We all have days where we didn't do well on the eating and exercise plan. The best thing to do is just get back on plan ASAP. Many of us plan for these times. I attended a family picnic yesterday and knew I would be eating food I don't normally include in my daily diet. Things such as my friend's delicious potato salad and my daughter's gooey peanut butter bars I also started the day with a 50K bike ride over hilly terrain. Don't let one off day get you down. I haven't lost 130 lbs, but I definitely enjoy my splurges. Balanced with a good amount of exercise and healthy eating most of the time, and splurges are nothing to freak about. In fact, I see some dedicated people here who post they haven't gone off their diets in like 467 days, and I just don't think I could do that! Of course, my weight loss has been very slow, but I'm also enjoying myself quite a bit. I rarely feel deprived. |

Bing. Indeed, expect occasional failures, but return to proper eating the
very next day. Hopefully, the failures are infrequent. "Beverly" wrote in message ... "em" wrote in message ... I'd say, somebody spank me, but who the hell is going to spank a middle-aged fat man?
