Default Atkins Cheesecake at Ruby Tuesday

I just wanted to let you all know, if you are thinking of trying the
low carb cheesecake at Ruby Tuesdays, that you can't tell by
appearance only that you are getting the correct cheesecake. The low
carb version looks very much like a regular piece of cheesecake.

I ordered a slice to take home, as I didn't have room for dessert at
dinner time...I had the salad bar and the Black and Bleu Burger Wrap
(Highly recommended, it was delicious!! Lots of meat in the burger,
they don't skimp).

Based on previous posters' warnings, I was suspicious about whether
or not I had the right cheesecake. The manager explained that this
was the only cheesecake they had now, but I still wasn't
convinced...somehow the crust looked like the a graham cracker crust.
He offered to get the box for me so I could see the nutritional
information, so I said OK. I tasted the crust after he left to get
the box, and it did have the nutmeg flavor that was described by
others, and I could tell there were nuts in it. The manager came back
with the box, and it was an Atkins cheesecake. I couldn't believe the
low carb version would look and taste so good, but it does.

Apparently this is the only kind of cheesecake they are going to have
from now on. For those who got the regular version, I wonder if they
were serving what was left over, since they are supposed to be phasing
them out?

I felt kind of embarrassed for pushing the issue, but my husband keeps
telling me I shouldn't be. I'm usually shy and quiet, but I've been
on South Beach for three weeks and I was petrified that I was going to
eat something I wasn't supposed to have. I just had to make sure
before I wrecked everything!

Default Atkins Cheesecake at Ruby Tuesday

I just ate at Ruby Tuesdays for the first time tonight and was shocked by
the menu. It seemed that almost everything had a low carb version to it. I
had the chicken, with pureed cauliflower and brocoli. Small portion but
overall satisfying. I was also pleased the the kids quesadillas were on
whole wheat tortillas. The only disappointment was the kids burger came with
a small patty in this enourmous bun. I ended up taking off half the bun for
my DD and the patty still fit in the remaining bun half cut in two.

I would go there again just for the choices.

Roo:

Here in Columbus, OH, they still have both kinds, though the menu
sports only one listing. The graham cracker crust on the non-LC one
is very clearly graham cracker, and it climbs up the back of the
cheesecake. The LC one is definitely nutty, and very cinnamon-y, and
only covers the bottom of the cake.

The LC one is good though. Quite yummy, in fact.

There is a huge discussion at the lowcarbfriends board about this cheesecake.
It is sweetened with levulose, a form of simple sugar! Be careful of ordering
this until RT gets their act together on the dessert issue.

There's a discussion on the Low CarbFriends board about this. One person said
the manager told her it is not Atkins cheesecake, but Atkins-friendly. Someone
pointed out that it contains levolose (sp), a simple sugar type of sweetener,
and now many are avoiding it for the time being until there's more info on it.
Even with the sugar, I don't imagine the carbs are over 10 grams or so per
slice, but I could be wrong.

The website claims 6 "net carbs" per slice.
I'm curious of the cost per slice also.
