slept too late this morning, too much excitement getting the new kitty this
week, so we will say I stayed the same, and I am doing better with the
water. I had whole wheat pancakes for breakfast and am traveling Monday and

ahhhhhhhhh....a new little kitty!.........I have 2 fat cats that are about 8
years old now. They've never been outside and they love to sleep and eat and
unfortunately, as of late, one of them seems to be starting a habit of
poohing on my new carpet downstairs!!! I love these cats, but it just seems
so strange that they would start doing this all of sudden? We keep their
litter box clean twice a day?

Oh well........nice to see you are staying positive and feeling good Lee!

Take the cat to the vet and make sure it isn't medical. I had a cat with
that problem and we ended up redoing his litter box training (confinement
with a box) whenever his medical problems flared up. He had an issue that
made it painful for him to go so he associated the pain with the box and
would stop using it.

immediately to the vet unless you have changed something, how new is the
carpet? cats hate change, if you do as little as move a trash can it will
upset them, sometimes not going in the box indicates pain during the
"process and you do need a check up just to make sure, also, clean the area
thoroughly then put a small plate of food right over the spot, Lee, positive
I am sticking with it... new kitty is actually a bit older than we thought
but is to be Stormmee's bud so she quits bothering the old cats,

We did take one of our cats to the vet and discovered that she has some sort
of digestive problem and she had a bit of a urine infection, so they gave us
some medication to clear up the infection and some laxative that we give her
daily to make her stool softer. We also did the room confinement to get her
back into her litter box and that seemed to work well.

The problem is that the issue has started again, we removed the carpet
completely and now the other day, one of them actually poohed on our new
couch! Thank God we found it quickly and it didn't stain (we had the couches
stain-guarded right away when purchased), so we've now decided to confine
them only at night time, because that seems to be the only time this was
happening.

My DW is killing me though because I want to confine only one of the cats
for a few nights and then the other for a few nights to see who the culprit
might be but I think she's afraid of finding out the truth cause because
I've threatened to get rid of both of them!!.....I really wouldn't
though.........I honestly love them both so much!

I know what you mean about cats hating change..........I think this is may
what have started the entire situation. Our hot-water tank burst a few
months ago and we ended up completely redoing the entire basement - so I'm
sure the cats are also a little upset about that as well...........

I bet the infection is back and you need to get it treated or it can do bad
damage, Lee, who thinks a room redo would give one of hers a total
breakdown,
