Since the plan is exactly the same as Core I wonder why they bothered
changing the name and de-emphasizing it. "Simply Filling" and "Filling
Foods" are much harder to say and write than just "Core."

***What changed is mainly the tracking part of the plan. The reason why it
was all put in one plan was so that people realize that it's the same thing,
just with different ways to control your portions.

Also the WW site now says, "Tracking is our preferred way of
maintaining control, but some people just aren’t wired for it. So we
have another technique: Simply Filling."

Just speaking bluntly here, that sounds much like the old expression
"putting lipstick on a pig" and basically admitting that the Core
program wasn't really a success.

***It didn't take with the members because many were affraid of trying it.
The "Core members" were always a minority, but they were still successful,
which is why the tracking part of the plan was changed to bring it closer to
"Core" with the filling food, hunger signals ect.

I think the quoted statement could probably be re-phrased as, "We
found that in the end only tracking works, so we have killed off the
Core plan. But if you can't track it's probably better than nothing to
at least eat from the healthy food list."

***You couldn't be more wrong. As I said, many members were very successful
on Core, I'm one of them. The majority of the members didn't trust
themselves enough to try it that's all. So since it was impossible to force
everybody to try it, the tracking system was changed to make it closer to
it.

It's not that Core wasn't good, it's that it didn't sell well. So it was
repackaged..

Sorry to be dense here, but I still don't see how it was repackaged.
All the things you mentioned, including checking yourself to make sure
you are really hungry, were also part of Core, right?

Nobody was ever forced to try Core. It was simply one other option.

The online system still lets you switch between SImply Filling and
tracking points mode, for at least a week at a time. That was also the
same in Core.

So what is different, except for the name being more awkward to say
and write and the fact that they now say it is "not the preferred
method."

How is the tracking system changed to make it closer to Simply
Filling?

*** Yes, I didn't say that Core was changed, I said it was repackaged,
presented in a new way... it's less scary to see it as part of the same plan
than see it as a new plan all of its own.

Nobody was ever forced to try Core. It was simply one other option.

*** Yes it was, but nobody was trying it.

*** Yes, again, it didn't change, it's just presented in a new way. What DID
change is the tracking part of the plan. Momentum is different than Flex...
the Simply Filling part, is pretty much the same as Core.

So what is different, except for the name being more awkward to say
and write and the fact that they now say it is "not the preferred
method."

How is the tracking system changed to make it closer to Simply
Filling?

*** Filling foods have been added, which weren't part of Flex. The tracker
includes a chart to check the hunger signals which wasn't part of Flex
either. The whole way of working the program has changed for those who
track. The main thing is that the mindset has changed. It's not only about
the pts anymore, it's about making the right choices to use up your points.

I totally fail to see where you're going with this I must admit...

Sorry. I'm really not trying to be argumentative here!

I just honestly don't see whit of difference between Core and Filling
Foods. I don't see the difference in mindset either. It seems like the
exact same rules.

I was just trying to clarify for myself if there was actually anything
at all different. I'm just trying to understand.

Anyway, enough of Atkins for now. It's voodoo. I don't think I wasted
my 4 weeks though, because I did get my appetite under control and my
blood sugar has dramatically improved.

Of course my blood sugar dramatically improved when I lost weight by
limiting calories too, so I believe that happens as long as you lose
weight.

Yet.... I still can't bring myself to tracking calories/points yet. I
know I'm just setting myself up for a fall that way.

So... I'm giving up the butter and mayo and fatty cuts of protein. I
just printed off the latest Filling Foods List and am going over to
the supermarket.

I'm going to try for the next few weeks to follow the latest Simply
Filling plan - eating just from the Filling Foods list except for my
35 free points, which I'll spread out over the week.

And I'll report back later after I have some results, and not just
talk.

Thanks,

doug

Thanks.

I think I did find something different between Filling Foods and Core.
Core included more sauces and condiments I think. In particular, I
believe barbeque sauce was on Core but I don't see it listed for
Filling Foods.

one thing which you might not get fromm the site is the way the leaders
teach it... much more supportive of eaither plan but the emphasis when
talking to a point counter is quality of food and examining how you feel
after eating, and when dealing with the filling foods people, emphasis on
portions of the foods and how you feel after eating them, on old core/flex,
it was more about how much you could eat or what you could get for the
points, and on core all about satisfaction levels, only a nod to portions...
at least this is what i experienced anyway, so maybe its a different way of
teaching the same thing... i gravitate towards the foods on that list so the
fact that i have no satisfied button is not the fault of ww. I wish i did
because it would be lots easier to just know the portions eat and go on, Lee

I understand what you mean about not having a "satisfied" button.

I think very obese people like me eat for lots of other reasons in
addition to being hungry.

By the way, I had a banana just before - my first high glycemic food
in 4 weeks - and it is sort of amazing how I can feel it actually
making me hungry for something else!

I really have to learn what my trigger foods are. Low carb foods are
not triggers. But obviously some higher carb foods are.

Bananas are definitely not "simply filing".

one of the things my leader talks about on a very regular basis, is that
every individual eats for specific reasons, and each person has different
foods they must either limit or only eat when they feel totally in control,
for me bananas arem't a problem i love them and could live on them but when
i eat one i don't get hungry or want more bananas, i can eat a banana and go
three or four hours without eating again.. but give me a bowl of white rice
and the munch is on chococlate never hardly calls my name, DH keeps it in
the house all the time, same for nuts and peanut butter... but i simply
can't have cereal in house or again its on, odd but we must learn not only
why we eat but why we don't eat, and what foods are an issue for us, Lee
