Duffy Pratt wrote: Do you not bathe? Depends on the culture and time period! In some cultures and times, bathing was infrequent. In other cultures and times, bathing was an important part of daily life. Are you going to have leeches applied when you are ill? Doctors still do this for certain conditions! Are you going to get rid of the central heating and plumbing, and install a moat around the house to take care of your bodily needs? Moats were generally defensive in nature. As for central heating and plumbing, even some pre-medieval cultures had it (see classical Rome, for instance). Saying "medieval" and then trying to draw a generalization is to lump approximately 500 years and many different cultures together. Any generalizations are likely to be as accurate as one made about all North, Central and South Americans from 1503 to 2003. Shirley to reply via e-mail remove the trees from my address |
