The Yo-Yo is back
I need to find my niche...
I do WW and lose weight, go off, come back to do Atkins, get frustrated due to lack of bread, come back to WW cause it works and my willpower is at a nil state. I've done WW for a year and a half and lost a net 5 pounds-considering the roller coaster-20 pounds lost at one time, probably have lost THOUSANDS of pounds-up and down over the last year and a half. I don't find the meetings helpful-mostly women that congregate together. This isn't a bad thing for them, I say this from a guy's point of view. So NO flames on that one, please! Any good tidbits for a frustrated, overweight guy? Glenn |

Glenn,
I've been there done that!! I've tried everything from Richard Simmons to Atkins. I haven't tried WW more than a week, but I've given that a shot too!! I am finding that Richard Simmons Foodmover works for me because it's the closest thing I have found to being able to eat "real" food and when I go off of it, as long as I don't go back to the habbit of over-eating and eating junk food I can keep it off. I also find coming to this newsgroup helps because I can vent frustrations and share successes with people who understand. We have several men in the newsgroup too!!! You might want to give the newsgroup a try!! -- Janice 263/256.25/150 (maybe 130) "Glenn B." wrote in message ... I need to find my niche... Well, if you lose weight on WW why go off? You can eat anything
including, if you count points, Atkins type of foods anyway. And if yuo need your bread, then Atkins is not truly for you. If you stick to WW the weight will come off. I guess it sounds as if you are treating this as a diet rather than accepting that you will have to eat normal, scaled down portions and healthy foods forever and not just lose weight, go back to unhealthy or too much food and regain. Good luck On Sun, 07 Dec 2003 22:58:42 GMT, "Glenn B." wrote: I need to find my niche... you must realize that in the end it is up to you and you must decide if you
are willing to do what it takes to lose. Remember you may not be ready or willing to lose just now. There is nothing wrong if that is how it is. It is just where you are and only you can decide where you are and if you are ready, good luck, Lee Glenn B. wrote in message ... I need to find my niche... Any good tidbits for a frustrated, overweight guy? I am not a "meetings" kind of guy, and that was one of the things that kept me from joining WW for a long time. When I finally decided to give it a try, I found their website and discovered that you can become an online member and there are no meetings involved. It's cheaper, too. It's about 15 bucks a month. I log what I eat and my activity points, and it keeps track of how many flex points I've used. Every Sunday, I weigh myself and log that, too. Way cool. It has a few glitches, and it works better with evil Microsoft IE than with Netscape, but overall, I'm pretty happy with it. Sounds like you might want to check it out. www.weigh****chers.com Stan |

You have lost lots of weight over the year or so and if you had never been on WW you would be a lot bigger than you are now. You also knew when you started WW that it wasn't a 1 year thing. You knew and you still know that it's for life. After a year you will be smaller than you are now, but you will have to stay on WW (maintenance) or something similar to keep the weight coming back. If you go back to eating like you did before starting WW you will become the size you were before starting WW. You know it's possible to lose weight 'cos you've done it before so get back OP, start exercizing, and start posting If you don't like the meeting and I don't blame you - do the 'online' thing. Aww Glenn, sorry to hear you are frustrated, but welcome back! We aren't a
bunch of congregating women, at least I don't think so. Hopefully you will find some support here. I tried a low/no-carb version of WW once and I never felt worse in my life! WW is definitely the way to go! Hang in there with us and you'll lose again and keep it off soon. (BTW, I started in Jan of '02 and have been stuck at this weight for over a year now). -- ~Kristin O~ 272/239/172 Here's our FAQ: http://www.didian.com/asdww/ and welcome notice: http://www.geocities.com/welcomenotice/index.html "Glenn B." wrote in message ...
