looking for a rice krispie recipe
Hi!
A "very " long time ago someone had posted a recipe foor rice krispie treats using egg whites and splenda.Somehow you added the rice krispies as you cooked the egg whites that had been preblended with sweetner.I thought this would hit my craving spot but can't recall the details! Anyone have this recipe or is willing to experiment? Sally(a new one) |

looking for a rice krispie recipe
Rice Krispie Treats with egg whites??? Eeeewwww, that sounds icky. There
aren't even eggs in the "real" Krispie recipe. It's just a little butter, marshmallows, and Rice Krispies. I've never heard of it the way you're talking about but I hope for your sake someone around here has the details for you. Have a nice night. There are egg whites in marshmallows, at least the ones I used to make
myself. Since marshmallows are whipped egg whites, vanilla, sugar, and corn syrup (I'm working from memory here), I can very easily see the possibility of switching a few ingredients around so that the amount of butter is reduced, and the sugar which the marshmallows usually bring to the end result is replaced with a sugar substitute. Sounds like a wonderful possibility, and I'm hoping someone comes up with the recipe. Stan On Sun, 28 Sep 2003 23:01:27 GMT, "Kristen" wrote: Rice Krispie Treats with egg whites??? looking for a rice krispie recipe
I found this with a google search, I haven't tried it.
SuzyQ ***Sugar Free Marshmallows & Marshmallow Crème *** 3 envelopes unflavored gelatin 5 Tablespoons Splenda 3 egg whites 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/4 cup cold water 3/4 cup boiling water Sprinkle gelatin over cold water in a mixing bowl. Set aside for 5 minutes to soften. Add to boiling water in saucepan; cook and stir until gelatin is dissolved. Remove from heat. Cool to consistency of thick syrup. Stir in Splenda and vanilla Beat egg whites till soft peaks begin to form. Very slowly, trickle a small stream of gelatin mixture into egg white, beating until all gelatin is mixed in. Continue beating until light and fluffy (but not until they're dry.) If you're making marshmallow crème, pour into a jar (jelly jar, peanut butter jar, etc.) and refrigerate. If making Rice Krispies Treats proceed with the recipe for treats. If making marshmallows, pour into greased and floured pan, cool to set, and cut into size desired. Dust with flour (optional). The mini ones are perfect to sprinkle over puddings or berries and divine over pumpkin pie or mock sweet potato casserole! Or use the marshmallow crème wherever your creative mind takes you! I'm guessing this would be zero points unless you ate the whole batch.
