are raccoons edible?

They are pretty cute though, so I am not that intent on killing them. i They may be cute but they can do a lot of damage to property and person. You don't want to get one cornered anywhere. He might stop messing in the garbage if he discovers your hens and eggsg They are considered edible by some people. After seeing what some of them eat I doubt I could ever eat one. http://www.gf.state.az.us/h_f/game_raccoon.html Thanks. The hens are in a relatively secure cage, with some holes, but not big enough for a raccoon to pass through. Good point on hens though. I may try to take him out with my air rifle, since I do not have a .22. I would set up a sniper's nest on the 2nd floor and wait until the security light comes up. Or, maybe, I will buy an actual .22. Set out a humane animal cage, then release it far away... An air rifle is NOT going to kill it, only hurt it, and that's no good. No point in buying a .22 unless you do more shooting than the occasional raccoon. And unless you're a pretty good shot, you still might just manage to hurt it. If you are in a rural area, you can get away with shooting, but not in an urban area. Might want to contact animal control.. det |
