Default low-carb items at restaurants

For anyone who in the Washington DC area and somewhat further south in
Virginia, the Silver Diner has added low-carb items to their menu.

We went there today for the first time in a few months. On many breakfast menu
items, you can replace the toast and homefries with strawberries and cinnamon
sour cream for an extra 49 cents, which they note has 7 net carbs.

Previously, I'd gotten the southwestern breakfast quesadilla, which comes in a
pesto tortilla, and eaten half for breakfast and taken the rest home in a doggy
bag. I'd guessed that it had about 30 carbs altogether, so with half I thought
I was getting about 15 carbs. I was awfully close -- they now give the carb
count for that item, and it's 27 for the whole thing. Obviously, that's not
going to be in everyone's diet, especially early on, but it strikes me as a
good maintenance item, and even more so if you only eat half. (If you eat
large breakfasts, it's probably about right, but if you eat small to
medium-sized breakfasts, it's too much all at once.)

There were a few other items marked as low-carb. They have low-carb pancakes,
but I'm not venturing there since I view pancakes as an excuse for syrup and I
don't do syrup anymore, not even the sugar-free type.

Anyway, it's another option.
