Well, 17 more returns to go. (I'm still adding new clients so my "to
do" count never seems to go down by much.)

Now I'm in the all-out-race to finish people who are nearly done WHILE
adding new clients who are willing to go on extension. This is the seed
of my next six months of work - if I don't harvest the extensions now
I'll be dirt poor in August.

Meanwhile, my family has made frozen pizza three out of the past five
nights. I eat what they serve me at my desk. I got pretty thirsty
tonight because no one came by to water me. (My plants, by the way, are
dying.)

I just thought I'd share this pitiful glimpse into a tax accountant's
death spiral. It's not a pretty site. I haven't worked out since I
went for a run on Saturday morning. (That may be the last time I
showered: what day is this again?)

Dally, crashing early for once (after only 13 hours at her desk)

I feel for you. Our accountant's office worked all through Easter
weekend -- and called us a couple of times up in Pennsylvania. (We
had some complicated stock stuff this year.)

Oh, I worked ESPECIALLY hard over Easter. I hate it when Easter is this
late. I didn't get to color eggs or even see the kids do the Easter Egg
Hunt. I definitely didn't go to church.

I finished 14 returns over the week-end, all people who were going to
call first thing Monday morning asking if I was done yet. I dread those
calls and wanted to have the stuff ready for them.

Mondays are always heavy call days for me. Strangely, many of my calls
today were from clients I have already finished who wanted to talk about
some tax planning stuff. Each one of them was naively ignorant about
how much time I have for free chats just now. One of them wants me to
do an amend for 2002 and acted like I'd pop it out just now. I handed
it to my receptionist to schedule a time in May. I have specially
selected and trained my receptionist to be kind and patient in my stead
since I can't quite muster it. :-)

Dally, too tired to go to bed (but trying anyway)

May the rest of your returns be easy and simple. May the rest of your
clients be like my tax return. (who had her's completed and e-filed in 10
mins time).

Then again - you want those extensions...

You should prepare taxes in Texas... we only pay Federal, not state! I bet
that would be easier.
