High Blood Pressure and WW
"Pat" wrote in message ... Hi! Well, I just got back from the Dr with news....... No more messing around... I've GOT to lose weight!! My BP is way higher than it should be. 170/90 to be exact. My weight is 176.2 and I'm 5'7". UGGHH!! Does anyone know if I need to alter WW recipies or will they be ok for losing weight and hbp?? Thanks! Pat Stay away from the frozen meals because they contain too much sodium for you; otherwise, it is an excellent program. Your blood pressure should get better when you begin to lose weight and lower your sodium intake. I tend to have high blood pressure but I still use a bit of salt to season foods when I cook. I never use a lot of salt. Audrey |

If you are not salt sensitive, the weight loss alone will do it. You won't have to eat anything different, just less of it. Of course it is a great idea to follow their guidelines for good health.

I eat a ton of salt. The weight loss fixed my HBP. Other people are not so lucky. Experiment .

Will, this was something I knew from personal experience. Even when I was still fairly heavy I did a lot of exercise in the heat. When I tried to cut salt on the advice of the Doc. I passed out one day, after living with a monstrous headache for a couple of days.
I learned it again in nursing school. Some people are not salt sensitive, and giving it up does not help the HBP, and will even cause them to get an electrolyte imbalance if they stop eating it. Others, can simply give it up and the HBP goes away before they even lose weight. Easy to find out by giving it up for a few days. -- Lesanne "Willow" wrote in message . com... I figured I would try to do what I could to lower my bp before my next appt with him February 13th when he tells me the results of my bloodwork and retests my bp. There may be a chance that my thyroid is messed up too. Getting older isn't what it's cracked up to be, that's for sure! Pat |

Thanks for sharing this, I've always thought that the first thing with HBP was to cut down salt..
