I also bought some kashi good friends cereal. I tried it right out of the box on the way home, and it's very tasty. Also high in fiber (8g) and protein (9g), but high in carbs too (22g). This stuff is so crunchy though, it's like chewing on gravel. It cut my gums like captain crunch used to when I was a kid! 190 cal in a cup of cereal, plus 1c of nonfat milk, under 300 cal for breakfast. I need the fiber though, as lately I've been getting like less than 10g per day... Kashi also makes meal replacement powder, which has 22g of protein and 8g of fiber. I'm going to try and get my fiber intake up to the suggested min of 25g per day. I'm sure my colon will thank me... det I really liked the Kashi Good Friends cereal. Only reason I don't eat it now is no Trader Joe's anywhere near. And though one of the markets carries it I think, it is very expensive up here. I never found that it cut my gums though! It is a great source for fiber. I ate it last time I lost big weight... and no problem there. I also added protein powder to my milk. Try Trader Joe's whole wheat couscous some time. In small portions, it's super easy to fix, has good fiber and is tasty. Had a tomato, onion, couscous, sardines and roasted red pepper salad yesterday. Yum. Cynthia 262/239.5/200 first goal |

Heck, even our Harris Teeter carries it (but Whole Foods generally has a better price). Sorry, wrong number. We only have TWO grocery stores here. Albertson's and Economart. I've not seen it at Wal-Mart either. But that's about it for food shopping options here. I may fit it into the budget later. Trouble is, fresh produce is so expensive here... that's where my money is going at the moment. Cynthia 262/239.5/200 first goal |

A bag of Orville's SmartPop has 210 calories and is loaded in fibre. It is easy to eat at the computer and in the car, etc. because it doesn't have all that grease on it. And my all time favorite is low fat triscuits but not quite as much bang for the calories. j |

I just realized that the kashi cereal I bought is not "good friends" but "crunchy"... No wonder it's so damned hard to chew! det |

ANd believe me, 1/4 cup of F1 in some yogurt is very tastey and more than enough fiber for me when you add in the other fiber foods I eat in the day. |

And I do like to mix it into yogurt. I've just been eating the same stuff over and over I got sick of it, so I'm adding in some new things. I ate fiber one w/yogurt for about 2 months straight and then couldn't take another bite. So, I'm looking at alternating days of multigrain hot cereal mixed w/protein, fiber one w/yogurt, the kashi, and looking for other high fiber foods. I really have been neglecting my veggies... When the growing season ends here, all our "fresh" vegetables are shipped from halfway around the world, and taste like wax... det |
