Default well....crap.

Convinced the battery in my scale was surely dying, I replaced it. Then
I dragged the damn thing all over the floor to find the "right" spot,
the spot where the numbers would read, "190". Inagine my dismay to
finally come to grips with the hard fact----only one pound gone in a
week.

AAAAAGGGGHHHHH.

OK. Life is full of dissapointments. I warched "Hud" on TV this
morning....and a least I didnt have to shoot all my cattle due to Hoof
and Mouth disease....so, things could be worse.

Now....my thinking was...."as long as I keep it to 20 carbs a day, it
shouldnt matter where those carbs came from."

Evidentally.....this is not true. If I've learned anything this week,
it's this:
Ya cant drink a liter of wine a day and lose weight.

But what I want to know is.....WHY?

why are wine carbs dfferent from food carbs? Where did my logic err?
What exactly is it that makes this happen? Does alcohol....stop ketosis?
Or...what?

Of course, I also did O exercise this week.

There is no such thing as a Free Lunch.
Nor a "get out of jail free" card.
Do NOT pass GO. Do not collect $200.

Color me bummed.

sigh.

Is there anything worse than the knowledge, "I did this to myself"?

Thanks for the helpful comment, Marsha. No, I didnt read the book at
all. or any other book, actually, since about 1980.

I did order it on tape, however and am expecting it pretty much any time
now. The Library for the Blind has 11 copies---all were "out".

No, some wines contain more sugar.
I've also had a bit of a problem with some kinds of wine.

I refuse to give up my booze. I won't do it.

Tequila is worse than vodka.

Port is worse than Burgundy.

If it's sweet, it's evil. sigh

Silver/white hard liquors are better than the golden ones
as they have carmelized sugar added.

Sweeter wines are more evil than dry wines.

Take it from one that loves her tipples and has learnt the hard way!

Some alcoholic beverages will kill ketosis, others will not. The trick
is to learn which ones....

A liter a day??????
It's not the carbs that did you in it's the calories. Not only does a liter
of red wine have around 720 calories, white around 680 (give or take) those
calories are burned before anything else. So while you're burning alcohol
calories you aren't burning fat.

Sometimes there is a degree of wisdom in carefully following directions.

Not everyone seems to be capable of that. You might be one of those.

Wishing you luck in seeking health.

First of all a pound is nothing to sneeze at, it's a loss which is all good.
Patience IS a virtue.

Second, alcohol does contain calories. Are you sure about the carb count of
your wine?

Third, maybe 20 carbs isn't your sweet spot for losing.

Jeri---ok, that makes sense.

My logic also was, "If Im drinking a bottle of wine every day (well,
most days) ANYWAY, then reducing the number of cals and carbs by LC
eatring would still be relative to when Im NOT LCing....thus, still be a
****load fewer cals and carbs.

But I see wha you're saying about burning the alcohold first. That
makes sense. Partic since I didnt do my aerobics at all this week.

thanks-

LassChance
